I see it posted EVERYWHERE online and it’s always full of comments praising it and it just fills me with rage. Everything about this image is a terrible idea. Fuck this thing.

Unsurprisingly, a sick or injured dog being approached by a strange dog is not helpful in getting them to relax. It’s more likely to cause an incident than anything else because the patient can get either excited or anxious about the situation and do something Not Great about it.

Comfort Dogs can be wonders for humans, but that doesn’t mean they do the same for other dogs. This could work for some patients in very specific cases, but it’s overall a very very bad idea that could get a patient hurt.

Further: a dog with a weakened immune system should not be around a dog THAT IS “COMFORTING” SEVERAL PATIENTS.

The amount of cross contamination here is insane. It’s not as though that dog can wear ppe between patients or wash its hands. It could absolutely carry a deadly microbe to a vulnerable patient with the vet being none the wiser this is a HORRIBLE idea.
