kep's favorite hobby is crawling onto your lap so he can breathe really loudly and wetly 1 inch away from your face. it is so so important to him that you let him do this.

I thought you'd all enjoy this pic of Pip last night hanging out with his flock of 8 yo fangirls 7 blocks over who all come screaming out to see him every time he walks by. He eats that shit up, look at him. Rescue dog living his best life.
the novelty of having pets really does never wear off i’ve had my cat for ten years and i still look at him strolling around like can you believe this. a cat. is everyone seeing this. he’s alive he has bones and all. unbelievable

something I’ve noticed about Kep, which surprised me bc I always thought it was instinctual, is that he does not know how to dig. never has. he will paw at his bed or the floor when he’s getting ready to sleep, but only ever with one leg at a time. I have never seen him do the left-right-left-right alternating standard digging motion. it’s always left-left-left-left and sometimes he’ll switch to right-right-right-right but never does he alternate feet. it’s also only with bedding, never in the yard. Stellina has always liked to dig ever since she was a puppy (mostly in water but she also has a nice little scrape under my lilac bush she naps in) and Boone was a big digger who made several upsettingly large holes in my yard. I feel like Kep would love digging based on his general penchant for destruction, so maybe it’s a good thing he’s never figured it out.

whenever I sit in this room Kep always insists on going behind the curtains before he lays down. unclear why that’s a habit, but it’s very consistent.

i think avoiding everything is going to save me for real this time
how does stellina's dynamic with kep compare to her dynamic with boone? sorry if you have already talked about this at some point!
good question! I’d say she viewed Boone more as a nice but stern father, whereas Kep is more like a fun brother.
Boone was an older guy (almost 8) when I got Stellina so he didn’t have much tolerance for puppy nonsense. he wasn’t mean, but he definitely gave stern corrections and was very clear about boundaries. this was honestly not terrible bc it made Stellina very respectful of other dogs and she will immediately bail at the first sign of conflict. as she got older they got along well and while they never really played together, they would sometimes share beds and definitely enjoyed each others company. she seemed a bit subdued for a while after he died but otherwise handled being an only dog fine.
with Kep she has a more engaging relationship - they play together and overall interact more. she was very patient with him as a puppy but did eventually learn to set boundaries, though her corrections have never been as serious as the ones Boone gave her. Kep knows that he can tease her and push his limits, but he does back off once she’s clear about it. I’m not sure if it’s bc they’re the same breed, or were closer in age, or just their personalities, but they seem to really like each other and have a lot of fun together.
