These are the faces of Corretto and Nanaimo, two beautiful baby hamsters gone far before their time. They were bought in 2014 from a pet store in the area and because of bad genetics, left far too early.

Today I rejoice at the news that this specific chain is closing their doors. While not all the locations are closing, and not the one where Cora and Nony were purchased, it is a step in the right direction. The hamsters they sell (and I’m sure all the other critters too) are unhealthy, small and deserve way better.

Cora and Nony are the reason we began to breed. While their lives may have been short, their legacy, their inspiration for healthier animals will always live on in the Strong Brew Hamsters, despite no relations. Rest in peace girls.

I’m completely overjoyed to hear that awful place (I know the one you’re talking about) will be closing most of their doors, or converting to pet supply stores (no animals sold there). Best news I’ve gotten all year because I HATE that company and have seen far too many animals sick and dying there.

And I’m so sorry you lost those cute, sweet little babes. You did all you could.

Hiatus

Sweet baby jesus. Well that was a long time away from tumblr! My laptop hasn’t been working properly since October of last year, so I had to get a spiffy new one! Now I’m back. :3
