ON THE TOPIC OF ONLY13 AND HENMI ANTIS IN ELF
This is gonna be Zhou Mi centric sorry.
But Zhou Mi has talked fairly candidly about how when he was scouted by SM, it was pretty much always the plan to add him to SJ. He was scouted to be added to SJ. It is fair to assume that Henry was the same.
It’s August 2006. Zhou Mi literally just arrived (he posted to his Baidu Bar August 24th 2006 announcing he was leaving China to go to Korea) Heechul had a car accident earlier that month and is still in hospital. Heechul is regularly visited by Han Geng and Kim Kibum. One day, Han Geng brings Zhou Mi.
Heechul is discharged mid September. Zhou Mi has only known him for a matter of weeks and is busy with his trainee schedule (Korean classes, dance classes, vocal classes, then free practice time where trainees are monitored and pm the longer hours you put in the more likely you are to debut) but still visits to check he is okay. Heechul can’t use his leg, everyday activities are difficult.
Heechul’s Cyworld entry about Zhou Mi:
After getting discharged I couldn’t even walk and making food alone was hard..
However that guy named Seasoning would come by my side and with poor Korean
Zhou Mi : Hyung.. are you alright?
Me : Oh Seasoning~ don’t mind me and go out to play~ㅋㅋ****
Zhou Mi : No^-^ Han Geng hyung said to take good care of you^-^
And then the next thing I know suddenly he was all helping with this and that(+_+)
When I was done eating he’d go fetch my crutches
And while sleeping he’d cover me with a comforter
And he’d even give me a piggyback ride to the restroom, he’d always be scared and support me
And he’d also turn on the TV, change the channel too and switch the aircon on, he helped me with everything
Zhou Mi helped him use the restroom, helped him dress and undress, helped him shower, got him food…in the small amount of free time Zhou Mi had, he would go to Heechul and care for him.
November 2006 (ish) Zhou Mi has a kind of photoshoot with some other members of what will be SJM. Zhou Mi meets Kyuhyun for the first time.
ZHOU MI: When I was first chosen by the company, I really didn’t understand a single word of Korean. And the company had us take a sort of trial photoshoot, and then it was me, and Kyuhyun, and a few of the M members. I couldn’t speak Korean and he couldn’t speak Chinese, and we all ordered food, right, it was pork chop with rice. He sat down next to me, and I was like, hm, because I didn’t recognize him. He’d only just debuted then.
KEN: Just debuted? So you didn’t know him?
ZHOU MI: He’d debuted for about half a year.
KEN: Then you should’ve known of him! I knew of them once they debuted!
ZHOU MI: I was in China then.
KEN: Ohhh, so you didn’t get that information. It didn’t get there as quickly.
ZHOU MI: At the time, they didn’t really consider China one of their main markets, so.. anyway, after that, he cut a piece of pork chop. And after he finished cutting it, the first piece, he picked it up with a fork and fed it to me.
KEN: Wowwww. What a good person.
ZHOU MI: At the time I thought, wow, even though we had a language barrier, but after this incident, I just thought, this boy is so cute.
Zhou Mi developed a soft spot for Kyuhyun, like, instantly. Over the years, whenever Kyuhyun has been sick, Zhou Mi has cared for him. Zhou Mi has been seen holding Kyuhyun up, letting Kyuhyun lean on him as they walked through the airport because Kyuhyun was sick or tired. Zhou Mi will stay in Kyuhyun’s room and share a bed with him so he can better take care of Kyuhyun when he’s sick. He’s done this multiple times.
I don’t doubt for a moment that when Kyuhyun was in hospital, Zhou Mi visited him, and when Kyuhyun was out of hospital, I don’t doubt that Zhou Mi would have cared for him.
Zhou Mi cares so much for Super Junior members. When they are hurt, he is there for them. When they are sick, he is there for them. When they are sad, he is there for them.
He never deserved the hate fans have given him. Super Junior members love him so much. I wish fans could too.
