eep ! she got way too startled by that other student jumping out around the corner. now she's not only clinging onto haruto's hand but also his entire lower arm. it makes her feel safer. a little at least

    -!!!   hauto was given his own form of surprise and flinched from the abrupt contact. on instinct, he began to move in effort to shield her from threats that weren’t actually there. the laughter that followed was a cross between anxious and sheepish, his own reaction leading to bemusement. “sorry about that- sometimes i leap without thinking.” his smile was faint, but present. “you okay?”

   “ oh…?” eyes blinked somewhat owlishly at the proposition, especially as the aforementioned appendages were shoved in his face. was this some ua ritual he hadn’t yet been exposed to? was he being hazed? though these questions swirled in his mind, he elected to throw caution to the wind. “if you say so.” he gripped them both, now looking to his classmate expectantly. “alright. what now?   ”

          ❛     hm  ?     ❜      upon  hearing  her  own  name  ,  her  attention  shifted  .  ever  since  the  second  year  had  started  none  of  the  hero  course  students  had  actively  approached  her  .  this  was  a  first  .  green  eyes  fluttering  open  when  her  quirk  was  mentioned  .  a  moment  spent  on  remembering  his  quirk  .

   ah  !  yes  .  vapor  .  now  she  remembered  .  doubt  soon  washing  over  her  enlightenment  .          ❛    you  do  ?  i  don’t  see  the  compatibility  .  .  .  i  drain  moisture  ,  while  you  need  it  to  make  use  of  your  quirk  .     ❜           maybe  he  got  her  quirk  wrong  after  all  ?  stepping  from  one  foot  onto  the  other  .  umiko  waited  for  an  explanation  ,  while  still  trying  to  think  of  one  herself  .

   struck by surprise, the young man blinked for a moment or two before lighting up again- undeterred. perhaps at base value it was difficult to see the possibilities, but haruto had given it more thought than he cared to admit. “i see plenty of potential in that!” of course, he only knew her abilities from word of mouth, but a few ideas had sprung up from what information he had.

   “for example, my quirk can generate liquids in a form that might be easier for you to absorb-- or or-- if you leave something dry then it could create opportunity for me to overwhelm it? i don’t know the exact science” he admits, “but i still wish we had the chance to explore it.”

     “ Huh? ”  As he was just about to exit the building, he stopped; hearing his classmate’s voice call out to him.  Turning to face the other, he spoke,  “ Are you sure?  The school dorms aren’t that far of a walk.  Also the rain doesn’t really bother me that much. ”  Even if it didn’t bother him, that would change the fact he would be drenched by the time he got there.

   “Of course! I wouldn’t have offered if I wasn’t prepared for that answer.” His smile was genuine, happy as he was eager to help a fellow student within any capacity- big or small. Digits extend to offer the accessory to his classmate, a sheepish hue occupying his cheeks upon revealing the objects garnishments. “Please don’t mind the ducklings on it-- my grandparents bought it for me when I was younger.” Truthfully he’d bought it only a few months ago, but Kiyoshi didn’t need to know that.

    “   kiyoshi!” he called out the others name louder than he usually cared to portray himself, hoping to get his attention before he left for the day.  “do you have an umbrella? it’s raining terribly outside.” it had caught everyone by surprise given the clear skies they’d seen this morning. “you can borrow mine if you like- my quirk makes it pretty easy to stay dry.   ”

   it was tricky field to traverse for any quirk user- a question by many that would be considered a touchy subject. that wouldn’t deter haruto. he was always one up for challenges, including verbal ones. “  i hope you don’t mind me asking but are there any downsides to your quirk? your fighting style seems to use it quite liberally.   ”
