Been a hot minute since I've logged in here. I'm moving blogs mostly because I've been using that one far more, and the content I made it for is now scarce. Please go and follow that blog. I'm going to be going through the blogs I follow on this blog and the other and clearing things out.

On the topic of my Fallout 4 fanfics

Hey, it’s been awhile. I wanted to address something I was thinking about earlier today, regarding my Fallout 4 fanfic that I started so long ago.

I still get kudos and favorites on Purple every now and again and it reminds me that I never finished it. And I want to say that I probably never will. At least, I probably won’t be finishing Purple specifically.

I cherish Jack Schmidt’s story so much, and I always will. But since I started writing it... what, four or five years ago? I’ve grown as a writer and a person. Writing doesn’t come so easily for me anymore. When I look back at Purple, I often see problematic things I wrote (specifically in mental health and in other areas) that I’ve come to learn aren’t exactly accurate depictions of what I wished to convey. Not only that, but the fanfics I had lined up for Jack’s story were far too ambitious for me to handle. I had forty-seven chapters or so on the original, and I cannot imagine writing that much today. That being said, I won’t be taking down the fanfic or anything. It’s a piece for me to look at and think, “wow, I’ve come quite a long way as a writer!” and it’s a piece for me to learn from. Besides, a lot of people really did enjoy it and I don’t want to take that joy from anyone.

Regarding me writing Fallout 4 fanfics again - I might in the future! Fallout 4 and the series as a whole has a special place in my heart and sometimes I return to it. I ache to write Jack’s story again, so it’s definitely a possibility that I may pick his story up again - just not in the form of Purple.  

When or if I decide to pick up his story again, Purple will probably be considered not canon to his story and I will start the entire series over with a fresh mindset (although I may pull ideas and stuff from it). I want to write something that has a clear goal in mind - not like how it was, where there were different arcs every few chapters. 

No promises, of course. Dumb mentally ill brain makes it hard to consistently write nowadays, but I feel like one day, I do want to try to write Jack’s story again.

If passed into law, the EARN IT Act will give the Trump administration the power to destroy essential online encryption services, putting us all at risk of surveillance, censorship, human rights abuses, and other serious threats. The bill is heading to the Senate, so it is crucial that you call your senators and house members and urge them to reject this bill. They are doing all this to aim to “end child exploitation”, but that was the same argument used to pass SESTA/FOSTA. 

This bill is a violation of free speech, human rights, and aims to ban encryption, which many messaging apps and websites use to protect you. 

Call your representatives now and tomorrow and the day after until they come out with a statement saying they are rejecting this bill.

Reagan was elected in 1980, around the same time that HIV began spreading and turning into a pandemic. Nearly 60,000 cases were reported with more than 27,000 dead before he even mentioned the disease in a major speech, during his second term.

His administration spent years pushing back on requests for funding for treatment and research. It’s impossible to know for certain, but if the disease had been aggressively studied and treated in the early years it might have been contained to a few hundred or few thousand deaths here in the USA.

Also he cut funds for mental health treatment and facilities, turning disabled people out onto the streets, the War on Drugs was cranked up to inner-city warfare, and the fundamentalist Christian “Moral Majority” that was his power base happily watched queers and black people and sex workers and homeless people die alone and scared.

Until Donald Trump was elected, he was the best example of an oblivious wealthy white person riding a wave of bigotry into the White House, and empowering that bigotry to a degree that cost tens of thousands of lives.

TL;DR, he watched us die and didn’t care.
