ā This is why we canāt have nice things Cloud .Ā ā - Claudia Strife .
cavusvitaeā:Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā What would she have to do ? ā ⦠Leave me alone. ā His voice was defiant, but in the tone was an accent ofĀ sadnessĀ . Glad for a while that his mom had left the room, the boy pulled a blanket over himself, already expecting to be left to sulk in peace ā until she came back, with aĀ vengeanceĀ . Without further thinking, hairs of his nape already erected from the expected splash of cold water, Cloud shot up from his bed, arms crossing on his chest while he looked away to the wall ā gestures which he would retain to adulthood for sure. ā Okay,Ā sheesh ⦠ā
ā Oh come on , it wasnāt that bad .Ā ā Sheād said and set the bucket aside before coming up and hugging him all up . Even if he was wet and then kissed the top of his head which was now just as drenched .Ā ā Come on , get changed I have a surprise for you downstairs .Ā ā Saying to him as she got up from his bed and walked out of the room and down the stairs to get his present ready for him . Claudia had heard of the rumors about her son . That he was a trouble maker . It wasnāt fair to her sweet boy . So , sheād naturally gotten him a present .Ā
cavusvitaeā:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Cloud had been far too young to remember what itād been like when his father had left. No, not thisĀ PlanetĀ . But their immediate presence. Where ever heād gotten this shame from, he wondered whether itād all been due to the discrimination back here in the town. After all, his father had shown the example that it was a proud thing to be a Shinra infantryman ā what was there to be ashamed of ? Ā Ā Ā Ā He felt like heād already said sorry a thousand times, squeezing ever tighter after the kiss of the forehead. He felt like she would doĀ anythingĀ in this world if it meant she never had to let go of him ever again. ā I shouldāveā¦Ā ā Feeling the tears of both relief & guilt build up in his eyes, he blinked quickly, then detached from her & smiled slightly. ā But Iām home now. ā
Her sweet boy , her sweet Cloud . A lot had changed with him , he had grown so much . It was just such a comfort to her worried sensibilities to see him here with her now . Moving to hug him once more , thinking if she hugged him close enough or tight enough he would never leave again . Letting him go as she took her apron and wiped at her own tears that had been forming . Sniffling .Ā ā Youāve been gone for awhile, come on. Come in and sit . Tell me all about it .Ā ā That relief wouldnāt go away as sheād made her way over to the kitchen and sat down at the table .Ā ā Can I get you something to drink , to eat ?Ā ā Offering himĀ sustenance . Wiping her hands onto her apron .Ā
azure-steelā:
It was by chance that Cloud happened to even be walking down that particular street after another unpleasant day dragging his heels in the pursuit of contracts to line his pockets. This place was no different from all the rest; just another dive beneath the Plate, filled to the brim with unfortunate people with nowhere else to go.Ā
There was a reason they called these places the slums, with their ramshackle little hovels all packed together and a smell akin to rotting vegetables and musty untreated wood. It was something the mercenary figured he would never get used to, not that heād been raised in a life of opulence by any stretch of the imagination.Ā It was during this fit of absent observation that the woman crosses his path, jostling him out of his own head with a start and a disdainful glare shot in her general direction.Ā
āWatch where youāre going, ladyā¦ā heād grumbled, not even caring enough to realise that he even recognised her, never mind anything else. It wasnāt until she takes him by the arm, forcing him once again to gaze upon her, hearing the words tumbling out of her mouth that the sheer gravity of this womanās presence weighted on him. Pulled into an embrace, one that heād all but forgotten, Cloud simply stands there, stiff and unmoving.Ā Heās having another episode, caught hopelessly in the throws of a hallucination, this woman who holds him so tenderly, she canāt be his mother⦠sheās dead.Ā
That final notion settled in his guts like a brick, heavy and sickly, and as if by instinct Cloud grabs the woman by the shoulders in order to push her away, to gain back that much needed personal space to process the information sheād just delivered.Ā
But the opposite happens, the contact of leather clad hands against her triggers all those old memories not quite forgotten. Overwhelmed then by the vision of her, the smell of her cooking, the wildflowers set at the table, the sound of her voice and those bright blue eyes heād inherited from her that always shone with her smile in the glint of the late afternoon sun. It was too much to take in, even as his arms circle her smaller frame and pull her just that little bit closer.Ā
āYouāve gotten smallerā¦ā was all he was able to even say, a choked murmur against her neck amidst the crowd which still moved about them.Ā
It had made her heart sink into the depths quite quickly , that her son . Her precious child had hugged her back and so tightly too . This could still very well be a hallucination , given the next words sheād spoken to him .Ā ā Oh Cloud , howās Zack doing ? I really miss him . And that other nice man Sephiroth ... why ... why arenāt they with you ?Ā ā Claudia had seemed unbothered by this , she was only a distance good memory . Seeming clueless to what her fate would have brought her .
Ā It was concerning to her that those two werenāt with her son this time around . Cloud did look older , the shift in time . Smiling as she changed the subject and moved her hand onto his cheek .Ā ā Ah ! youāve grown so much . You look just like your father .... It makes me so proud ...Ā ā Caught in that time loop it would seem .Ā ā He wanted to be a SOLDIER so bad , it only makes sense I suppose .Ā ā Saying to him as she moved to check out what he was wearing.Ā
@skyfallenxsoldier continued from HERE .
Happily she greeted her son , he had grown so much inĀ the two weeks she had been gone away to Midgar for some business in dealing with some money issues . She was doing it to help out a friend , it felt so nice to be back home though . To be in her boyās arms once again . It made her whole experience worth it . Pulling away from the hug only to have her lips come to rest on Cloudās forehead .Ā ā I missed you .Ā ā Saying with a smile .Ā ā How was everything here with the babysitter . Didnāt give her too much trouble did you ?Ā ā Claudia if at all possible avoided some babysitters .Ā ā OH! I brought you a present .Ā ā She said and dug into her bag and pulled out a poster for Cloud . It was one of Sephiroth the SOLDIER .Ā
cavusvitaeā:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The smile turned into a frown ofĀ longingĀ finally coming to an end. Cloud didnāt remember the last time heād had a hug this deep, or a hug at all ā mustāve been two years ago. Itād been so long.Ā Far too long.Ā His body knew so before his mind acknowledged the need for a cuddle, as arms squeezed even tighter inĀ desperationĀ before retreating a bit to let his mom have a better look. ā Iām sorry mom⦠ā For not telling her about anything. For not keeping her updated. The boy-soldier was beyondĀ mortifiedĀ for keeping secrets as emotionally charged as this from her. ā Missed you too, mom. ā
Whenever Cloud was around , it was like he held a piece of herself in him . Though there was extremely more of his father that sheād seen in him . Sure , Cloud may have looked like her . He acted so much like Strato though . She smiled , he was the last piece of him she had . Breathing and soaking in her only child . Claudia knew that heād missed her , just from the subtle desperation of the clinging . Moving to kiss his forehead , as she could cry . Not for sadness anymore , but for joy . ā Iām just glad youāre okay . You know your father ⦠he ⦠ā That was probably the most heartbreaking part of this whole thing . Strato died during combat when Cloud was still very young . There was no way , she could lose them both in the same way . ā Just please , I donāt care Cloud . Write home ⦠let me know youāre safe . ā
cavusvitaeā:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Despite the attempts to get the boy off the mattress & into a sitting position to eat the soup made with love, Cloud remained limp out of sheerĀ pettinessĀ . Heād refused once already, surely he couldnāt change his mind now ! The momās joke fell on deaf ears, the teen just rolling on his side. The youngling didnāt do much else but groan under the folded mattress. ā Mom⦠ā
Claudia just sighed , then stood and shook her head slowly at her melodramatic son . He could be this way from time to time . Though , it was probably more of the time now . Claudia could blame it on the teenage angst . ā Come on ⦠donāt be this way Cloud . ā A huff and a puff from her cheeks . ā What do I have to do ? ā Her voice turned into one of frustration at him . The woman just threw her arms up and with an eye roll she turned and headed out of the room . The single mother didnāt have time to stick around if he wasnāt going to cooperate . Coming back into the room with a bucket filled with cold water . ā Donāt make me Cloud . I donāt want to , but I will have to . ā Some of her goofiness she had definitely inherited from his father . They would play off of each other .
@hiislegacy - liked for a starter .Ā
His mother had been having a nightmare while taking a nap on the couch in the main living area . Her body acting in sync with having such disturbing dreams . She screamed and then woke up only to see her son looking with some concern .Ā ā Oh , Cloud ...Ā ā Her adrenaline had spiked and she was panting . Sweat was forming on her forehead as she looked over at him .Ā ā I... Iām fine ...Ā ā Tears were still in her eyes as her body was trembling .Ā ā Itās just about your father ...Ā ā It was really tough for her to be a single mother sometimes and she often really missed Strato .Ā
@hartbeating - liked for a starter .Ā
The blonde looked over her shoulder at the market , and noticed a familiar face came in . It took the mother all but ten seconds to realize who it was . A girl from Cloudās past .Ā ā Oh Tifa !Ā ā Came the short wave and the sunny and beaming smile from Claudia . One could tell who Cloudās mother was just by appearance alone . The other half of that coin was the fact that her personality was nothing like her sonās . On the complete opposite of the spectrum . The single mother was always happy and welcoming to anyone .Ā
@azure-steelĀ Ā likedĀ Ā forĀ Ā aĀ Ā starterĀ Ā .Ā
Claudia had been in Sector 6 for her work as a bookie and had just left the materia shop owners shop with his bets written in her book . Though what she hadnāt expected was to bump into her very own flesh and blood .Ā ā Oh , excuse me ..Ā ā The mother hadnāt even realized it was him yet , and had to do a double take on him . Having a hand come shooting outĀ towards him and wrap around his arm .Ā ā Cloud ? is that you ?Ā ā The blue eyes that reflected his own were looking at him . She couldnāt believe it . It had been such a long time .Ā ā Oh my , it is you . My baby boy !!Ā ā Feeling her eyes instantly thicken with tears before she hugged him tightly to her .Ā
cavusvitaeā .
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Cloud knew sheād walk in despite his efforts of turning her away, & sure enough, she did. Immediately her hands on her son, checking for signs of any illness, Cloud simplyĀ submittedĀ to the motherly acts, looking blankly at the wall at the foot of his bed. Not a single time did he look at Claudia, & when she was done, he fell back first against the bed soĀ melodramaticallyĀ one couldāve called him out for being such a teenager. ā No, mom. Iām not sick. ā But he was. He wasĀ sick & tiredĀ of this town ā thatās what he was.
Claudia just sighed as she picked up on the attitude a little bit .Ā ā Oh come on Cloud , donāt be like this .Ā ā Sheād said to him and moved her hand to gently pet his forehead and move her fingers through his hair in a caring manner . Leaning down to give him a soft peck on his forehead .Ā ā Come on ! Get up !Ā ā Claudia said before she grabbed his mattress and started to pull it up to flip it over on top of him .Ā ā I wonāt have the rainclouds today Cloud .Ā ā Laughing at this joke sheād made on multiple occasions in his life , embarrassingly enough .Ā
