So I haven't been around for a while, and there are a few reasons for that; the main one being that it's been hot as balls here and I just didn't feel like it. Another being work, and another being family things that take me away from the internet and demolish any inspiration I had for writing.
It always comes back, though, when the above are the only reasons, but lately, here in the HoYo fandom... well... you know what's been going down, and I'm not about to dredge anything up or call anyone out. Because I am an adult, I do not know the details, nor do the details interest me, and I realise that there are bigger things in the world to worry about than some rando on the internet's opinion of me.
And so many of my moots have had opinions on this and I feel the need to share mine, if you care to read.
Negativity of this ilk wrecks fandoms, and in turn it wrecks friendships. Now, most fandoms have their fair share of bad apples and toxicity, ship wars etc (I'm in the FFVII fandom, go figure...) but there are always ways and means to avoid it, keep your head down, don't get involved, and all that. But in most cases it only takes one or two to utterly obliterate the atmosphere of a fandom and make people not want to participate, and like... isn't getting more people involved with the fandom and the RPC a good thing for everyone?
The world as we know it is on fucking fire. You all know it; as much as you don't want to see it, surely there are bigger and better things in life that you could be fighting for, or worrying about.
This place is an escape for the majority of us, most hobbies are, and due to all this nastiness, smear campaigns, call-outs, and cancel culture I've been witnessing it's made me not want to be here at all. And I hate that.
Life, my friends, is far too short for any of this, and I do so hope moving forward that we can all just get past it, because in the grand scheme of things, it's petty and small. You cannot get along with everyone, and if you don't, that's actually okay, just remove yourself quietly and play in your own corner.
No one owes anyone else anything other than space and peace in a time when the world as we know it on the outside is changing so much for the worse.
Be better... please?
For everyone's sake.
I want to feel safe here again, and I'm sure you do too.
