Ray laughed with her words. “A complete square?” He widened his eyes as she said that. He didn’t think anyone stilled used that phrase in conversation, but here he was, being proven wrong. And it made him laugh, genuinely, full-heartedly laugh. A feeling that he often missed. “As you should be disappointed,” he agreed with her, playfully shaking his head in shame. “What can I say?” Ray smiled over at her, raising a brow at her words. “I hate thinkin’ about that. Time does fly, more than you want it to sometimes,” he shook his head at the thought. While he didn’t have kids, he lived with Abigail and her daughter, and while it hadn’t been that long, time did seem to be moving quickly. And he felt like he was running out of time with her. While she had even made plans for the two of them to move, he didn’t know if that would actually happen. “That sounds like a very specific cry for help,” Ray teased her, “has that happened before?”
“Yes a complete square! And don’t you dare tell my mom I used that phrase! It just goes to show I’m becoming more and more like her every day, and I’m definitely can’t have her knowing that. Also you can’t tell my brother or sister. They’ll never let me live it down!” Clover joked. It was nice to hear him laugh like this. She had been worried about him but maybe there wasn’t anything to worry about. He seemed to be doing fine. “Maybe we should make up for lost time. Throw one of those parties and actually try to enjoy it. Pretend we’re back in high school instead of two old people with time flying by them way too quick,” She laughed. It sounded fun. Something completely crazy and yet entertaining at the same time. “I may or may not have taken one too many adult gummies and spent the night watching Disney movies while drinking juice. You can’t prove that ever happened though and I’ll never admit it!”
