#hi hi hi so update. i went to the second round of interviews for the professor position!!#went ok! i stuck to my guns abt ai usage which COULD bite me in the ass. but. i’m not gonna pretend im ok with gen ai for a job.#im now apparently a finalist. it’s me and one other candidate. if i get picked i gotta interview with the president of the college.#ive had a pep talk a day from my professors lol. very sweet. i kinda do hope i get it?? could be nice to start fresh at something and get #good money from ONE job instead of 3 🫩#i had another interview with another college this morning too!! also went well!! things are lookin up #but i COULD be a full time faculty professor :’) and they won’t get mad at me saying the word professor instead of instructor #didn’t ever think i could make it this far lol feels cwazy. i made this blog when i was still in high school #making fuckin steven universe fanart. how tf. i’m 30 now! had it for… 13 years?? wild yall.

#hi tumbly i’m in a conundrum. i’m moving up in a job interview process for a full time faculty position at a school in town #which is great!!!!! but i love my students in my afterschool program so much #idk #i’ve had several of these students since they were in MIDDLE SCHOOL and now they’re going into senior year #they’re basically my kids lol. my work schedule is 8am to 10:45am. then 3:30pm to 7:30 pm. weird but it works for me #new position would be 50 hour weeks. but it’s the career move. but. MY KIDS!!!!!!!#new position would be SET for life. like. it would be next to a tenure position. i wouldn’t have to struggle.#but. the position i’m in is SO lucky. i’m working with this group of kids who are SO talented and are going into great things #and i feel like im making a huge difference by teaching them #and i love my coteacher!!!#and i still teach college courses at the same time #just not full time at the college #new position would be JUST at the college. no block in the middle of the day where i could run home to feed my cat and see the sun #IDK UGH. it’s a big adult decision. it’s a privileged decision. i’m in a good spot!! it’s just a huge trajectory either way. if i stay with #my kids it isn’t stable. the university that program is with don’t prioritize faculty.#the college that the new position is with would prioritize faculty. i’m just like UGHHH. in a perfect world i could teach my after school #program AND have the full time position. but my god i’d feel worn out #i would just miss my dang kids so much. i’m like a mom lmao #ok done venting and throwing up

Hi! Just found your blog and am really enjoying your paintings (cats and beautiful palette? Hell yeah). I’m also an oil painter and was wondering how you incorporate colored pencils with the paint? Very intrigued.

As bonus— a recent cat painting I just completed :)

LOVEEEE that piece! the way you handle translucency in your paint is gorgeous! damn!!! thank you for sharing that!

I usually use color pencil as an underpainting drawing! I’ll create texture with it, then glaze over the sketch with watered down acrylics, then use oil on top of that. i’ll wipe away the oil every now and then to show the texture underneath, or even scratch through it with a knife (sgraffito) to introduce new line or a sharp transition.

#sold her to someone who only lives 45 mins from me! small world!#i learned a lot in painting this one. it pushed me to really allow saturation and color into my work #also to get more vulnerable in talking about being gay lol #this one was painted while i was in a long distance situationship. she broke it off with me while i was halfway through with it LMAO #but it’s ok. i wouldn’t have met my longterm girlfriend if i hadn’t had that stepping stone. all a part of it #i think releasing it will help push me forward though #i don’t make work like this at all anymore. i’m still keeping the gas station piece ofc.#i’m usually down for selling work tho! this one was sold over several payment plans through the span of a year. i’m flexible if ur ever #interested! if ur local i’ll include some fun goodies and prints

i never learned much abt dinosaurs growing up (creationist school) so they’ve always been mysterious and fascinating. none of these are actual dinosaurs (duh), but i like to make up anatomy for things that are dinosaur-ish??

NO REFERENCE hehehehe. i feel very proud of these sketches #AND practiced line confidence. no pencil sketch!! all micron and fountain pen #i wanna do more like this tbh i learned a lot with patience and rendering!#this is me humble bragging just bc im proud of actually filling up a whole sketchbook page lmao

I just feel like I want to come here to say your painting of Cheese has genuinely touched my heart in such a profound way. For the first time in years I feel inspired to pick up a paint brush again, just for the sake of capturing moments of love with my cats.
