It’s few and far between but every now and again I do use that little thing called a reflector. I am a huge Speedlite advocate but I do believe that every photographer should have a reflector in his/her bag of tricks, it makes for an easily accessible source of brighter light and in my case most of the time I use it when *warning technical photographer mumbo jumbo incoming* HSS (high speed sync) is not an option on my light set up which basically means when I want to use a shutter speed above 1/200 in order to bring the ambient light down more yet still keep my main subject nice and bright. Anyway just wanted to share a few pics where I used a reflector instead of flash :) Enjoy. Thank you so much to my models @cleighcreations @cnricochet @fantasysheartcosplay
One of my favorite photographers just started up a Tumblr and I’m getting tagged in a bunch of posts. :3
(I’m the Red Sonja)
This was an awesome shoot! One of my very first attempts at studio work. I can not remember my settings anymore but I can at least explain the light set up. This was 3 speed lights at 1/16 power 1 off to the left with umbrella at mid body (fill) the main light was to the right above and angled down also with umbrella and lastly a hair light coming directly down from the ceiling behind her no umbrella. Thankfully the model was my girlfriend’s sister so she was very patient with me and it was a very laid back. :) In the last photo we took the hair light down and put a color gel in it. This shoot was so awesome. I had wanted to do my own spin on this version of Ivy for a while, and I knew I didn’t want just any old lycra suit. We even pulled leaves and branches off a tree in the backyard for some extra texture.
This Punk Sailor Moon was beautiful and amazing, I was a last minute call when their photographer had to cancel and im so glad they called me. I did these with one flash and my F-stoppers Flash Disc.
That’s me in my Punk Sailor Mars! I had so much fun making that vest. It took forever to dye it, stud it, make and find and attach patches, find the right buttons… Find more pics of all of us on Facebook!

This is my awesome friend Ogre (Eric), carrying some cosplay props and wearing his camera around his neck, as we’re all used to seeing him at con. He takes awesome pictures and has accompanied my friend and yours, Kiba the Cosplay Corgi to Anime Expo this weekend. Today is the first day of con and some asshole STOLE THIS CAMERA. If you are at AX this weekend and see someone who looks like they don’t know how to use this, or someone who doesn’t look like this guy carrying a camera that looks like this, please alert staff. Kiba is a guest and con staff have been made aware that the companion of a guest has had a very expensive item stolen from his table. If you are there and can share this post with others at AX, please do. If you know folks out there please share and tag appropriately. He takes photos for a lot of us in the community. He does really great work and it would suck a lot if he had to stop because some asshole decided they wanted something that didn’t belong to them.
This guy is a friend of mine. Help find his camera!!
In January 2015, cosplayers and photographers from around Arizona took a trip to the Imperial Sand Dunes in Yuma, AZ, a film site from Return of the Jedi. These are a sample of the beautiful, fun, and creative photos that came out of that day! I also debuted my newest cosplay, Barriss Offee!

At Image EXPO last week, I snapped some photos with some of my favorite comic creators, kierongillen and mckelvie. While I was talking to them, the infamous zdarsky pranced up and inserted himself into the conversation. When I held up my camera to grab another photo, he protested, "No! No, there must be no evidence!!" So I promised him I would use those little black bars to obscure people's identities.
Did I do it right, Chip? Did I?? :D
My sister drew fan art of my The Morrigan cosplay for my birthday! It’s so cool! I have birds coming out of my arm!!!

The EXACT process I went through when receiving a random envelope from some name I didn't recognize that turned out to be a holiday card from kurtiswiebe and his lady, Shannon, who is responsible for the Rat Queens merch. THANKS!!!

Eyeshadow colors are Maybelline Color Tattoo pure pigment powder pots from CVS (Never Fade Jade layered over Brash Blue, Pink Rebel, and Wild Gold) except for the red, which is NYX pressed powder blush in Cinnamon. The white eyeshadow base is NYX as well.
