A little something new today! Figurine photography! This photography is a whole nother beast, the trick is to make then look almost alive! I won’t go to much in depth here I feel the best way to do this type of photography is to just do it and play with it. I will say this can be so mich fun! I took all these with my Nikon D750 with my 16-28 f2.8 10000 ISO Shutter 1/40.
This was my first attempt at boudoir. It was for a wedding anniversary, talk about under pressure! I heard he loved them though. Leading to my advice for the night :) Don't limit your self in photography, yes you can have what youre best at or your "niche" but if you don't say YES to anything new that comes your way, you will never know what else you might love! Keep on shooting friends! Even if you have no subject just go find one! I know you want my settings, sigh that's all you want from me. So I have 3 flashes set up I won't tell you how! ;) Figure it out Nikon D5200 Shutter: 1/80 Apeture : f7.1 Iso: 400
Let's Talk straight from camera for a minute. There is always more you can do in photoshop but you need a great starting photo as well. I personally try to get every shot I take as close to what I already Invision straight from what is in front of me, isn't that the definition of photography? To take pictures of life and the world as you see it? I am not dissing people who heavily Photoshop their pics, they do amazing work but those are graphic designers not photographers. Just my opinion. If you want my advice in becoming a better photographer when it comes to Photoshop, think about all the variables look at what you have! Use you're creativity and imagination to paint a picture before you Even push that button. Anything you do in photoshop afterward with just make it pop and give it a WOW factor. :) All photos above are straight from camera. Will I Photoshop them? DEFINITELY but would I be comfortable posting them as is? 100% I would proudly display these. :) I guess just take pride in what you want to do be it photography or Photoshop just remember that the better your foundation the easier the build. :)
The power of a reflection is amazing. From helping to show the whole story (as is the case with punk sailor mars hiding things behind her back) to helping tell you where the character is from (mirrors edge) or even showing the duality of their emotional state (WicDIv). Adding a reflection is a great way to easily add just a little or even a lot of depth to your shots. :)

It’s few and far between but every now and again I do use that little thing called a reflector. I am a huge Speedlite advocate but I do believe that every photographer should have a reflector in his/her bag of tricks, it makes for an easily accessible source of brighter light and in my case most of the time I use it when *warning technical photographer mumbo jumbo incoming* HSS (high speed sync) is not an option on my light set up which basically means when I want to use a shutter speed above 1/200 in order to bring the ambient light down more yet still keep my main subject nice and bright. Tonight, I wanted to just touch base on "con shots" or "hall shots" as they are called. These are the photos us as photographers just take of Cosplayers as they walk through the con weather its because its to crowded to do otherwise or there isnt enough time for a full shoot for one or both parties. Just because they are quick "hi, may I have a photo?" Shots doesn't mean they can't still be great story telling shots, all of the above were con or hallway shots taken by myself. I personally am never satisfied just snapping a shot and walking away I have to make it my own I have to make it different in order to make myself happy which is why we do this in the first place it's my passion and my art, Just by changing up the angle or backlighting the subject or sometimes even putting a color gel on the flash and pointing it behind them (smaller cons where I have slightly more ability to carry a second flash and the room to just stick it behind them really fast) you make a "typical" passing snap shot into somthing amazing! :) Never be boring friends always be unique and always make every photo somthing to be proud of, we put alot of time into our craft so make it worth it. @aicosu @alexandriathered @autumnivy @lightreturn @lisapinelli-blog @saramoni @amberskiesfans Thank you all for posing for me.
This was an awesome shoot! One of my very first attempts at studio work. I can not remember my settings anymore but I can at least explain the light set up. This was 3 speed lights at 1/16 power 1 off to the left with umbrella at mid body (fill) the main light was to the right above and angled down also with umbrella and lastly a hair light coming directly down from the ceiling behind her no umbrella. Thankfully the model was my girlfriend's sister so she was very patient with me and it was a very laid back. :) In the last photo we took the hair light down and put a color gel in it. This Punk Sailor Moon was beautiful and amazing, I was a last minute call when their photographer had to cancel and im so glad they called me. I did these with one flash and my F-stoppers Flash Disc.
