Heeey everybody.

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be sitting here writing this post but oh man, here it is. That's probably given away what this whole thing is about; as of now I'm stepping down as Mod and leaving MT. 

I'm not leaving because I'm going somewhere else or because I've found something better-- I'm dropping all RP accounts, and to me nothing will ever be as good as MT was to me, no group could beat this and I love this place to pieces. I think it's about a year and a half since MT was created and I loved every second of it. It helped me get through a very rough patch of my life last year and I have so much gratitude for the group for everything. 

It's like Tony said once; time is the subtle enemy that always slips by without you noticing. Life has just changed stuff for me. Not how I feel about MT but how much I can give to it. Family things happened, a good friend passed away, and my drive for a lot of things has died. 

So rather than hogging a very important character I decided the better thing to do would be to let him go so that someone else can have fun with him and meet all of you awesome people. "The old must ever give way to the new." Tony really does know everything.

Tony rolled his eyes behind his armour when Namor decided to respond to his suggestion, although he didn’t stop grinning while he did. He was grateful for the freedom of expression behind this thing. At least Namor was going with it, he supposed, but given that he was leaning more toward throwing them in the ocean than getting any information, Tony figured he’d be the one asking the questions. It was only right, it was his stuff they took after all.

“Depends,” he responded, not needed to shout over the noises of the fight as his suit amplified his voice. “I can think of a couple of things that’d be more fun, but this definitely isn’t boring, at least.” He pulled up short of crashing into the wall as he threw one of the henchmen into a pile of crates, looking for Namor. “None of these guys come across as the head honcho, we’re gonna have to get further into the factory!”

With Tony’s perfect strategy of taking their weapons from them it make it too easy for Namor, compared to his mutant Atlantean strength they were easy pickings. He simply walked through their defences and picked up and tossed them like they were nothing. “Peasants, the lot of you. If you wish to defeat the Submariner you are going to need a bigger weapon.” Then before he was even able to finish his sentence the door to the warehouse opened revealing two men in powered mechanical suits. With all the soldiers knocked out or running in retreat the two mechs were all that remained in their way into the warehouse.

“Any relation to you, Stark?” Namor said laughing at his own horrible joke. “You just stay back, I’ll take on both of them and show you how it is done.” He swooped towards them alone expecting them to be as easy as the troops before them. He was ready to strike with a hard punch, when the opposing mech fired a swarm of missiles at him. They were too fast to dodge so he had no other choice to take them on, it hurt but not enough to faze him. Distracted by the missiles the second unit hit him from behind rocketing him into the ocean underneath.

Tony knew it was too good to be true when the warehouse doors burst open after his declaration that they needed to make their way further in, so it was with caution that he diverted his attention to them, watching Namor take out a few last henchmen before he too turned to the armored enemies now emerging.

"Ha ha," he muttered to himself, knowing Namor wouldn't hear unless he raised his voice. He wanted to take a look at those suits when Namor was finished-- whatever it was he was doing, though. He had a feeling they didn't come that far on their own. 

He rolled his eyes when he found himself shooting toward Namor when he was blasted into the ocean, as if to stop him from drowning, before he remembered who he was working with here. "Guess it's my turn," he said, turning to face the mechanical soldiers with both handa raised. "Does yours do this?" He teased, firing the repulsors.

Tony was just beginning a scan on the area when he heard Namor shout, and next thing the scan was interrupted as Namor’s body made its way across his vision. Guess that answered his question about a plan…. He didn’t waste any time following, making sure Namor had back-up more out of habit from working with a team than concern for Namor himsef.

Namor didn’t need it that much yet, though, and he was quick to avoid the— were those lasers?! Tony served to dodge one, the optics of his suit zooming in on the assailants and their weapons. He cursed. He was pretty sure that was a Hydra logo on the right side of the gun.

“Knock the guns outta their hands and find out who’s in charge, Namor!” He shouted. “They’re the only one we’re gonna get anything outta!” He pulled up sharply, firing his repulsors at the firearms, avoiding lethal injuries but not really caring about a few burnt or broken hands.

Namor liked Tony’s idea, knocking their weapons out of their hands would render them useless, vulnerable to Namor’s might. It was such a good idea he wished he had thought of it himself, so he choose to ignore it, recycle it as if it was his own. “I shall take their weapons out of their hands, they are useless without them.” He flew around dodging their fire, making it look easy as he taunted them with laughter as they missed. He was having fun, but it was time to fight back, as he couldn’t let Tony take them all out. He swooped down picking one up and tossing him in to the ocean as he kicked and screamed, it was a long drop but keeping his agreement with Tony he’d survive it.  “This is fun, isn’t it Stark?” He said with a wide smile on his face charging down at more soldiers. Using Tony’s advice he reached out smacking a gun out of the soldiers hand, throwing him into more soldiers who fell like bowling pins. He recognized the uniforms, just like WW2, Hydra, but modernized. This should be fun…

Ah, opening one’s eyes. Funy how such a tiny gesture can become a metaphor for something so big and all-swallowing. Raven would never have thought twice about that but Mystique… Mystique knows quite a lot concerning that topic and no matter how much she can disagree with the world, on that very specific topic… well, there’s not much room for divergence.

“A few big stuff then,” she says, thinking back on the years she spent borrowing someone else’s skin. “But I do know what you mean… I guess in your case it’s different because your choices affect a lot of lives.”

Was it Stark Industries who started developping plastic weapons? Mystique is unsure. She will need to verify that.

“But regardless,” she says, faking a sigh, “I imagine it was quite the exhausting process. Actions plumetting, newspapers raging, that kind of things… would you by any chance be responsible for the rumors of an Apocalypse next December?”

Not that Mystique truly belives in that theory, but she’s willing to bet many a business man thought Stark’s volte-face was one of the first signs of it. That’s just how stupid humans can be.

Tony grinned widely at her response. He liked how casually she responded to his explanation, where most would have questioned and questioned until he told them everything. People seemed to think like that— he was famous, so he was supposed to cater to them, their questions, their curiosities, that’s what he was there for. Very few people understood how important a casual conversation could be sometimes.

“Apocalypse?” He repeated. “Could be me, for a ton of different reasons I guess. The whole switch was a ‘cold day in hell’ type of deal. It was pretty funny actually,” he added, thinking back. “Well, the fallout. Maybe not the eye-opening process. People are very….” He waved his hands while he searched for a word, but he couldn’t find one to describe what he was thinking. “When someone shoves them outta their comfort zone, it’s pretty entertaining to watch them freakin’ out ‘till they realize it was never really that important to begin with.”

“I’m going to blame you for my delayed flight then,” Mystique warns. She did wait way too long at the airport, nevermind that the cause was actually more of her doing than anyone else. Stark doesn’t need to know that. “As for comfort zones, I find them tiring and unpractical. People get too attached and become aggressive as soon as the littlest change is suggested. I find it’s easier not to get comfortable.”

And if you are never comfortable, it’s easier to ignore discomfort, which was very useful in the beginning of Mystique’s life. You don’t become a master spy without some specific training, and that can take its toll on a girl, even one as adaptable as Mystique is.

“Speaking of comfortable, I heard you had acquired some roommates. Exceptional fellows, if you believe the rumors. How does it feel to be housing America?”

Mystique is off the loop, yes, but she hasn’t missed that. It would have been very hard to, when tabloids keep trying to catch a glimpse of the Defenders, or whatever they were called.

It’s the business part she has trouble with, but that’s not going to last very long.

Everybody needs some form of comfort, even if their comfort is alone, Tony almost said, but he didn't want the evaluation turned against him, so he dropped it. Enough people heard the stories of what he turned to when comfort failed him.

Even if he wasn't fond of talking about his team, he was glad for the change of subject. The Avengers were on everybody's mind, especially Tony's, given how long he spent trying to figure out how to bring everybody back to being a team, or if half of them even wanted to. Best focus on the good.

"It's like living with a superhuman nanny, actually," he said, grinning, and very probably exaggerating a little. "He's a conventional dude, if you know what I mean. S'not all bad, though. Some of 'em are like my best friends." He added, thinking of the likes of Bruce, Jan, even Steve himself, hiding the pang of guilt that came at the constant reminder that he never made time for Rhodey these days.

Everyone always pulled that point on Tony, so he decided not to respond to it, the good old hyprocrite argument. ‘Oh you think you’re so good because you don’t kill, but what about the thousands killed by your work’…. He was well used to it, and he always wondered if people really believed he felt good about himself. He certainly put up an act sometimes, he guessed, but the fact that people believed in it to the point of believing he was remorseless… Well, it told him what he needed to know about them.

Now, looking down at the plant, he was reminded more than ever of how much of a liar he was if he tried to claim he was unaffected. Just seeing the factory in action sent a cold feeling of guilt through his chest, and he was glad Namor couldn’t see his face. “Then you better put up your fists, buddy, ‘cause I’m sticking with my first answer. Ready when you are?”

Namor was incredibly eager for the fight, eager to discover who was responsible for polluting his ocean. He would never admit it out loud but he was happy to have Tony by his side, although he acted immature and rude most of the time, Namor did respect a man, just like him he was trying to atone for his mistakes. Without hesitation he swooped down to the base yelling out his favourite catch phrase “Imperious Rex!” which he said with a smile.

There was no need to be stealthy it wasn’t his style, he just rushed in and faced them head on. The people down below knew they were coming they fired their weapons up into the air hoping to hit Namor and Iron Man. Their weapons weren’t standard issue they fired what looked like green lasers, something that Namor had not seen before, he wondered how responsible Tony was for this.

Tony listened silently, keeping up with Namor and making sure not to fall behind. He didn’t think he’d be able to stand it if he fell behind, Namor’d never let it go. He made a mental note to do better than just keep up when the fight came. That’d give him something to laugh with.

He blinked suddenly, frowning behind his armour. “Wait wait wait, no,” he shouted over the noise of the air. He should have brought a com device for Namor, but too late now. “We’re not killing anybody, Namor, we just gotta stop them. We’ll beat them up and arrest them, you can ask one of ‘em whatever you want after that, but remember you’re on the surface and they’re our citizens.”

Namor was not surprised at Tony’s position on killing, but he could not forgive the pollution of his oceans. “Why not? Do you sympathise with my enemy, our enemy? I doubt they would share the same courtesy.” He said looking back at Tony with a cold stare. “Funny for a former death merchant changing his mind on killing, how very noble of you and how weak. But I respect your point, I shall not kill them, but I will make them wish for it.” They were flying close to the sea base it would not be long before they would reach it. Namor gained speed eager for the battle, looking back at Tony seeing if he was keeping up. Then before he knew it they were there, he pointed down at the base. It was apparent this base was still in use, thick poisonous smoke came out from the two chimneys showing how active it really was. “Last chance to confess, is this your doing? Otherwise prepare for an enjoyable battle together.”

Tony was sorely tempted to return fire against the jibe on his facial hair, but it was even more tempting to focus his energies on keeping up with Namor. It wasn’t difficult— nobody could navigate his suit better than himself— and he could make some educated guesses on where Namor was going next by watching him. He didn’t need to outrun him, especially since he didn’t know where he was going. He only had to keep up.

“We got a plan for when we find these guys?” He called, curious. He didn’t think they’d need one, if it was as simple as he assumed it would be. Whoever it was wouldn’t be a match for him and Namor combined. But he figured he’d ask in case something unexpected happened.

He always felt the need to prove himself, to be seen as a strong powerful man, the might of Atlantis depended on his actions and reputation.  “The plan is simple, we go in vanquish the cretins and keep one alive for interrogation to prove your innocence of course.” He was over confident in his own abilities not expecting much fight in the people polluting his ocean and so he should be he had the Iron Avenger on his side after all. “I am sure you’ll be able to handle that right? But if you want you could just stay back and let the master do all the work.”

Everything in working order, nothing to take care of before jetting right outta there. Good. He just wanted to get out there and prove Namor wrong, take care of whoever he found there, without wasting any more time.

Even so, he didn’t think his windows had been hindering them that badly. “Was that really— they open, you know that, right? They don’t have windows in Atlantis?” He asked, shaking his head but grinning midly behind his face plate, the humor evident in the tone of his voice. He laughed when Namor offered to buy a new one. “Money’s not a problem, you gonna put yourself in Pepper’s bad books for me, too?”

Since Namor’d gone ahead and smashed the window anyway, he figured there was no harm in using it for their exit anyway. He took off without waiting for a response, calling back, “Which way, fish face?”

It was on, finally, Namor came here for a fight but did not get one, instead he found trust in Tony’s words, deciding to join with him to fight what seemed like a common foe. It would be difficult, the two ego were bound to clash causing friction in the team, but their combined power would be deadly to any foe. But how long could they put up with each other? Namor was prepared to fight Tony for the smallest of reasons. As Tony made his exit Namor was not far behind, not happy at the fish reference. “Face fish! That’s as original as the facial hair you sport. It’s this way, follow me.” He barked at him as he signalled toward the right way. “Please keep up Tony, I hope your precious little suit can keep up with my Atlantean power!”

The more Tony spoke and acted the more what he said was starting to make sense. Namor still sceptical of what he was saying would give him the benefit of the doubt. He could tell Tony was taking it as personal as Namor, a guilty man wouldn’t act the same way, so he listened.

“You want me to show you? So be it!” He said, agreeing to take Tony to the ocean lab. He knew Tony wasn’t the kind of man to fool Namor into a trap, and on the off chance it was the ocean would be the worst place to do it. “Ah, I was wondering when you’d bring out the tin suit.” He said in a mocking admiration for the man. At this point Namor knew it would be fun. Without wasting anymore time Namor turned to the window, then with a great swift move he smashes whole big enough for them to exit. “Your bothersome talk has wasted enough of my time. Namor will not let another precious marine life go to waste by your flawed past.” He looks toward the broken window and notices the damage then smiles. “I’ll buy you a new one.”

Trouble Out At Sea

“Clean? Clean you say? Just another stunt to fool your misguided consumers, but not Namor.” His rage was amounting to the point where it was almost out of his control. His fist clenched and shook as his body was overwhelmed in anger. Although rage and anger were common feelings for Namor, but the pollution of his seas was never tolerated.

“You demand proof? How about I show you all the wildlife murdered by you and your companies hands?” Seeing the butchered marine life put to rest by the chemicals running off the off sea lab put a tear to his eye, it was something he very much took to heart. “You claim it is a thing of the past, but your ocean laboratories are still being used, and if it is not you who uses them, I still shall hold you responsible for their use. We have history, you and I, that is the only reason I allow you to stand, and why I am giving you a chance to rectify your mistake. If not I shall turn your company to rumble!”

Tony stood there while Namor spoke, deciding not to interrupt even though he was sorely tempted to do just that at almost every second word that came from his mouth. He knew this wasn't true, couldn't be true. What Namor was talking about was impossible. The ocean factories he was talking about had been shut down nearly two years ago along with all the other weapons plants.

"Show me," he ordered, not caring whether Namor took offence or not. He didn't try to tease and didn't try to gloat-- his mind was moving too quickly on other matters, like how dangerous it was if someone had one of those factories running and how he should have noticed before Namor, damnit. "I saw to it personally that all those factories were shut down, but if you're so sure, show me."

He stood back from his desk, moving removing his jacket and draping it over the back of his chair. He moved the cuffs of his shirt of his way, the bracelets to summon the Mark VII visible. "If someone else's got it running-- well, I don't take well to people taking my stuff. Lead the way," he finished, pushing the button on the bracelet.
