🌟NOURISH TO FLOURISH🌿🌟 What’s one food that you buy every single grocery shop?? FACT: I love food shopping more than clothes shopping. There’s just something so exciting + empowering about filling your cart with vibrant, whole foods that you know will fuel and nourish all your cells to feel and function their best!🙏🏼⚡️ . A few of my weekly STAPLES include: 🍌 bananas 🌱 lettuce, baby spinach + kale 🥕 carrots 🍓 apples, berries or other seasonal fruits 🍆 a variety of colourful, seasonal veggies 🍠 sweet potato + pumpkin . I always bring my own shopping bags, buy as seasonally and locally as I can. Another perk of eating whole foods is that it’s actually so much cheaper if you shop smart! I still often get questions about fruit fear… 🍉🍌🍓🥝🍍 The low carb diet craze placed these thoughts in our heads that fruit sugar is just as bad as white sugar. But eating more fruit is actually one of the best things you can do for your health!! Fruit comes with lots of fiber, vitamins, nutrients and phytonutrients plus brain fuel = glucose 🧠 I turned vegan about 4 years ago and have been following a high carb diet ever since. And I’m not talking about an apple or banana here and there but actually quite large amounts of fruit combined with greens, veggies and cooked starches 🍃🥦🍠🍚 My acne has cleared up, many health and hormonal problems dissolved and despite having a rather slow metabolism and a tendency to gain weight fast I was able to reverse the post-contraception-pill-weight-gain (I put on ~15 kilos when I stopped taking the anti baby pill). I never have cravings for sweets or “junk food” - I enjoy eating this way so so much! 💓 A typical day of food usually looks like this: smoothie bowls or juice or porridge with fruit or fruit salads / mini meals for breakfast and snacks (I usually have my first meal later in the day, that is what works best for my digestion, plus extended smaller fasting periods are actually proven to have lots of health benefits) and for dinner I love having lots of veggies / a big salads + some legumes or complex carbs like baked (sweet) potatoes, buckwheat, quinoa and co. I don’t use any oils but implement some healthy fats like avocado and seeds and occasional nut butter 👌🏽 Eating mainly whole unprocessed plant foods is what i can whole heartedly recommend to anyone!! 🙏🏽 I tried different approaches over the years but this is the diet I always come back to.
