I subtracted the 236 cardiophiles in order to calculate the percentages among the other respondents properly.

comforting - 30.9%

neutral - 19.7%

These responses among “normal people” (the pool of 722 non-cardiophiles) make me feel a lot less shame about my desires !!

I think it's super hot in theory but unfortunately heartbeats (including my own) freak me out so so bad in practice Like, do I get the appeal? Yes. Do I wish I could be into it? Yes. Did I have a full anxiety attack because I felt A Vein on my leg pulsate just a little bit? Also yes :(

I know a lot of acespec folks shy away from discussing the causation of ace identities, (and for many I’m sure it truly is inherent to their being), but I’m personally wondering if i’m demisexual because of the shame I feel for having a fetish.

If having a fetish/paraphilia was less stigmatized in society, would I be able to feel sexual attraction more freely? I typically only experience sexual attraction once I am sufficiently close to a person that I would feel safe disclosing my fetish to them, which feels like a very deep & emotional, but also shameful part of me.

I am working on being less ashamed of my fetish and this makes me wonder whether I will still be demisexual when I feel more liberated in communicating my sexual desires.

Does anyone else have experiences like this or think about this topic? I’d love to hear from other ace or demi folks with paraphilias <3 I’m also sooo curious about what it’s like to be a fetishist who’s *not* demisexual!! What is attraction like for you?
