What’s the best and worst thing about modeling?
Getting to meet so many people, going around the world, and wearing the nicest clothes are just some of the perks of modeling. The best thing for me is the feeling of getting to do this for a living. Worst thing about modeling is the waiting. Ha. Sometimes you have to wait 10 hours for a 10 minute show. Thats about it for me i guess.
You recently won as Asia Star Model! How was it like representing the Philippines? What was your fondest memory of the occasion?
Thank you! It came as a suprise. I was invited by the Korea Models Association to go to Seoul and attend the Asia Model Festival. They awarded me the prestigeous Asia Model Star award along with esteemed models from 19 countries in Asia. Countries like Thailand, China, India, Mongolia, Hong Kong, and etc. participated in the said event. From all the awardees, i had the highest number of votes on KMA website and because of this, they have awarded me another award, which is Asia’s Favorite Model.
It was a surreal experience to be there. There were so many beautiful people and I got to meet respected people in the fashion industry like of Jimmy Choo, Iang Sittha, Louise Wong, and many more. I got to make friends with all these people and its definitely something i will not forget.
How do you want to be remembered in this industry you belong to?
I want to be remembered as passionate. I do what i love and i love what i do.
You are one of today’s most in-demand models. If given the break you’ve always dreamed of, where will you go? What will you do?
I’d like to model in New York or Paris. Ah, what a dream!
As a model, what kind of photographer do you like working with? What kind of creative concepts do you like to do? What is your dream shoot?
I like a photographer who is vocal about what he or she wants. It makes it easier for everyone at the shoot. And also, a photographer who isnt scared of pressing the camera trigger. If you take 100 photos, im more than sure that at least there would be one money shot.
I always like outdoor shoots and working with natural light.
My dream shoot will be shot in one of the islands in the Maldives.
Who do you look up to in the industry and why?
Brent Javier!
What challenges LA Aguinaldo?
Procastination.
Did entering local show business crossed your mind? What are your future plans?
I guess it did. It still does. But i gotta remember, only the fittest survive. So before committing to anything, you gotta be ready.
What’s your most YOLO moment? What’s your most badass moment?
Bungee jumping in Thailand.
List five weird things we don’t know about you.
I like skateboarding in the heat
I box and hit the punching bag every morning… in my garage.
I cant sleep the night before a flight
I am double jointed
I still get jitters before a show.

R U M M A G E
It's been months since I last bothered to write something or try coming up with anything sensical for my blog. But I have not stopped reading. Miraculously.
I don't know what's gotten into me. Maybe I was just so drowned with the idea of being financially independent right after graduating college. And, probably, because of that, I haven't had any decent rest. The kind of rest that I truly deserved after studying for 17 years. The thought of finally taking my very first step on the ground after lingering on space for years, of finally being able to break away from all the fences built around me, enthralled me so much that I immediately tried my luck with employment. Finishing college with latin honors gained me too much confidence that I could be employed in no time. I was wrong. I ran into an undetermined battlefield, completely unprepared.
Securing a slot in the real world means refraining from trying to be someone else you are not and start letting out who you really are. Being sure of what you are made of and capable of. Be fully aware of your boundaries. Hence, your strengths and weaknesses. But above all, harbor a clear vision of what you truly desire and defy the barricade between you and your dreams.
A professor once told us, enveloping yourself into this industry you're striving to be a part of will never be easy. It is the industry that will demand a lot of hard work and patience from you even before you begin. I think, all sorts of employment does, though. You have to have courage and competence to prove you're worth the position you are applying for. No inhibitions but complemented with humbleness.
And so far, this is how I've dealt with it...
3rd week of April 2015 A week after graduation I have been invited into a job interview for the editorial assistant position in one of the top academic publishing houses in the country. And so I went, took a two-hour exam and an interview with the HR officer, who, after a few talks, said "you were applying for the editorial assistant position but I think you are also qualified to be a Marketing Sales Representative (or something like that, I can't clearly remember. lol) so I am recommending you to our marketing department. Is that okay?" I thought I could do it so I gave it a shot and said yes. So I took another long exam then two separate interviews with two of the top officials from the marketing department. But a few moments later, thinking about what I've been told during the interviews and knowing how the world of marketing works, I told them I can't do it long before the results came out. I don't think I should accept a job that's completely out of my league, right? From then on, I turned down every marketing related job interview invites. I just didn't want to disappoint. I really can't handle marketing. :)
2nd week of May 2015 I took a little time off, while getting myself further prepared for what's in store for me. Then when I felt ready, I sent my application to three television networks - two were among the top tv networks in the country (let us refer to them as tv network 1 and 2) and the other one was an international news hub (hello confidence! Don't worry they never replied to my e-mail *throws tantrums*). Days after my application, tv network 1 phone called me and scheduled me an assessment examination regarding the writer post, which I passed, then they made me take a writing exam the following day. Weeks have passed but I haven't heard from them.
July & August 2015 Luckily, tv network 2, two months after I sent them my application, e-mailed me to confirm my exam schedule re my application. Results came out the following day, and it said I passed. Few days later, they gave me an interview then scheduled me for another exam, which, again, I passed. Ha!
September 2015 TV network 2 sent me a message to personally claim the list of pre-employment requirements, which I have to accomplish before contract signing. A day before my schedule, tv network 1 suddenly called asking if I am still looking for employment. 4 months. They called me four effin months after I took an exam from their company. Is that even valid? Lol. Well, not exactly four months but almost. I don't know what made me do it, but I told them that 1.) Yes, I am still looking for an employment, but; 2.) I am now committed to a different tv network. But even before I finish my sentence, whoever called me immediately cut me off and said "Okay, thank you." then shut the phone. Hell, that felt rude. So instead of regretting an opportunity I have lost, I actually felt great about what I have done. Fudge, I would not want to work with "not so well-mannered" people.
October 1, 2015 I have submitted all other pre-employment requirements except needed documents from my alma mater. I am still processing a completion form, an important paper that the office of the student records services misplaced (not sure if they did or if it's our class president's fault), that would validate my final grade for thesis. They already have the papers that I need but they are still unsigned because of that missing paper. And I've been going back and forth to our school but the system's fucking with me so I can't get it done and therefore, I can't proceed to the contract signing so I could start working. FML. :'( Hopefully, something positive happens before the end of the month.
I ain't being choosy but I just want to land on a job that's directly related to the course I have taken in college, Journalism, because, I think if I'd have that, aside from having something good for my resume, everything that I've gone through for 17 academic years will be proven its worth.
