flutter of heart turned into an ache of pain . she could feel a hard lump forming in her throat at seeing him again , hearing his voice again . he hadn’t changed . not after all those years . of course he wouldn’t . he never did and he never would . last she saw him she was but a hopeful child , wonder in bright eyes . now ? now there was only fear and loneliness . he’d left and everything fell apart . he had made her so confident with her powers . he’d taught her so much about them — about what she could do . through him , she made her sister happy .
then he left and what was she to do when she’d lost control ? she had no one to turn to . no one understood . her parents only feared for her . anna couldn’t remember . the gates closed and so did her door and heart to all those around her . she’d hoped he’d return but year after year that hope faded … as well as her memories of him . just a figment of her wild child mind , created by her own colourful imagination . he hadn’t been real .
now he was back ? did he honestly think all was right ? that everything would go back to how things were ? as if he never left ? ❝ you’re right , jack . it has been years . you were gone and you never came back —— i needed you jack ! i lost so much and i had no one to turn to ! i lost you —– i lost my parents … anna was alone for so long because i shut myself in my room because i was TERRIFIED ! ❞
HER WORDS GNASHED at him like the harshest of winter . it was like she knocked the wind out of him . her words sank deep into him - cutting deep into him leaving verbal wounds . he slowly floated towards the ground , landing feeling defeated . she had so much ahead of her as a child and there he went , he was the first person to break her heart . he promised he’d be there , promised he’d go back and he never returned .
he’d failed her and he couldn’t take it back . he wanted what he’d done to wash the pain away from her but obviously he knew that picture perfect result was too far into fantasy . as anxiety stricken him , hands find itself with a fist full of ivory hair , heavy breaths take form — the faint sounds of howling winds sung outside her icy castle wall . the sounds of small hail clinked against the frames . it’s been years and everyone left her , and she was along for so long . . .
he didn’t mean to leave her , he didn’t mean to take away the privilege of having someone to lean on . he’s the only being who truly understood her and knew what it meant to isolate himself from everyone - he knew the meaning of loss . he was reduced to childhood fantasy like he feared . everyone else is easier to be believed in . he drops his staff and his other hand finds itself in his hair knotting and curling around the loose strands and fighting the urge to tug it.
the winds outside only grew stronger the angrier and hurt he got .
❝ i had a job to do and it wasn’t easy , elsa . . . do you know the trouble i went through just to save the world ? to save YOU ? i went through hell and back and back to hell again because if everyone lost their believe you wouldn’t have ever seen me again . three hundred years i lived unnoticed , unrecognized . . . i was isolated . and unlike you , i never made that decision .
if i never got to see the only person in the world who truly understood me , gods if i lost you forever , i wouldn’t have known what to do . i never wanted it to happen this way but i’d never leave you without reason . can you even trust me . ❞
for the whole time , cerulean eyes stuck to the floor / his feet . he was tempted to grab his staff and haul out but he had to continue this confrontation with elsa . he wanted to prove that he was sorry and meant it . but his eyes never met hers once because he was afraid he’d break at the sight of her doleful eyes — something he never wanted to see what was once very hopeful , twisted and shaped into something he didn’t mean to begin .
