You have to be real with yourself. No one is doing that. People are too concerned with making everything look nice and calm and pretty.
Childish Gambino, in an interview with Complex Magazine (via teconoces)
I posted this YEARS ago and for the last month or two I have been getting almost nonstop reblog notifications.
kinda funny how that works huh
I was looking for some deep and meaningful and inspirational quote about how hindsight is valuable and how the passing of time lets us look at things from a different perspective, and then I realized I was looking for a quote in reference to getting drunk 5 nights a week and that there is no need to step back to recognize how fucked up that is.
It is awfully easy to be hard-boiled about everything in the daytime, but at night it is another thing.

I miss writing.
I miss writing. But on a deeper note, I also feel like I never truly got into writing.
That feeling bothers me. I always thought of myself as a “writer”, someone who expresses himself best through written words. But in reality I haven’t been a fraction as prolific as I’d like to be.

hey tumblr, how've you been? it's been a while.
inspired by a random post that suddenly got like a billion reblogs (okay more like a little over a hundred but STILL) I'm gonna start hanging out here again.
this will be fun
I'm convinced that fear is at the root of most bad writing. If one is writing for one's own pleasure, that fear may be mild — timidity is the word I've used here. If, however, one is working under deadline — a school paper, a newspaper article, the SAT writing sample — that fear may be intense.

via Shawn Blanc, who says "Write for Yourself, Edit for Your Reader":
When you are writing, write however you must. Don’t let fear or timidity keep you from being honest and exciting. And when you are editing, improve your words so they serve the reader. Write for yourself, but edit for your reader.
Yo Chet Faker's music video for "Gold" is really awesome and you should watch it.
Reminds me a little bit of Diplo's also incredible Express Yourself video.
