People work all their lives to get on the cover of Rolling Stone. Then our society rewards a bomber for killing or harming many people with putting him on the cover of Rolling Stone. Our society should reward the people that work for a goal and not a person who harms people.
The recent news make it sound like that police only shoot African Americans, they never make a story about a police officer shooting a Caucasian. Black lives do matter but so does everyone else's, but you only hear about blacks losing their lives.
Yik Yak has been blowing up social media at my school. Yik yak is meant for people to say random thoughts that come to their mind, just like twitter, or any other social media website. Kids at my school are using it to bully each other, and it has become a serious issue. In most high schools it is banned for this reason, but our school was just built this year so it hasn't been banned yet. I think that our school should do something about the app so the bullying doesn't occur anymore.
This is the problem that society will face if they take away guns. The people that shouldn't have guns will find a way to get them and the hunters won't have guns and will lose their hobby.
GMO crops are beginning to be a big part of the worlds food supply. GMO crops are modified to grow faster and produce higher yields. People think that GMO crops are bad for your health or aren't as good of a product.
This image show how society views men compared to women. Men are viewed as being superior to women. Men were viewed as an icon for women to look up to. This how they advertised women joining the navy.
This picture showes that kids are more help, in this day and age, to get there lives started.
Single sexed school are topic of debate. The question is should all schools be multi sex schools? The answer could go both ways. Boys and girls do better in class when they are in a single sexed environment, but may not be prepared for a multi sexed environment when they enter into the real world.
This picture shows that the dreams of women are twisted into making them think they have to be a certain body type.
This image is showing that men and women are not treated equal when it comes to the work force. Even though women are beginning to be paid equally, there still is an informal sort of segregation that employers have.
Inequality
The rich and power hungry are the reason that we have inequality and classes. They hoard their money and use it on inessential things. They place the want of a materialistic toy over the needs of starving people who are barely managing to stay alive. But that is also the reason that people ever strive for more, greatness as some would call it. So that they wouldn't have to suffer in poverty. It creates a drive in most people to do so,etching or more with their life.
The photo above show a doctor displaying deviance. This photograph is very interesting as it provides an interesting look on the various devices we as humans employ to categorize the individuals that we come into contact with. The left side of the photograph is defiant of stigmas and stereotypes existent around the individual presented on the right side of the photograph. Ultimately, this picture conveys the idea that the depth of a person's being is less dependent on the manner in which they present themselves versus other factors.
While the image above may be perceived as comical, it provides a social commentary on the racial stereotypes perpetuated with society. The picture in particular is pertinent to the existing stereotypes around individuals of Asian descent, asserting that they are well educated, intelligent, and studious. This ad deconstructs this stereotype in a comical fashion by showing that stereotypes are not applicable to all people within a particular group. This concept may be applied to other groups as well.
This illustration pay homage to the conflict perspective's view on mass media. The seated man is literally being spoon-fed information by the media (in this case being a television). This demonstrates the assertion of the implications of the current dominant ideology upon the masses, according to the conflict perspective. This type of media control helps protect interests, maintain privilege and power, and reinforce dominant ideology, all of these belonging to the upper echelons of society.
"Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight" I don't know what is more wrong with this?!!! The fact that it is up against a picture of McDonalds or the fact that it screams Anorexia. What is wrong with society? Our culture revolves around the image of perfection. Yet we know perfection can not be achieved still we strive for it.
Gender Stereotypes These ridiculous outdated things that not only screw up society as a whole. Because of these things it's hard for individuals to be themselves and causing society not to function normally. It's hard for individuals to embrace their natural selves in our harsh society. And it'll only get worse because these roles are being passed on from generation to generation. Both men and women are obviously victims to these things and thanks to our society.
What is wrong with society?
Society puts emphasis on the wrong things. For example society says it's okay to point at people and call them "ugly" or "fat". Then they say welcome to the "real world". That shouldn't be the real world. But the fact of the matter is, it is. Then we become hypocrites for saying "society is screwed up" but we are society. Every single ones of my blogs have been about how society is screw up. So yes maybe an individual can not make the problem go away, but we can still start by making the change in ourselves. It really doesn't make a person any superior to insults another. So honestly, how many of the wrong things are valued in our society? But It's the things that we grow up valuing in our society that are wrong.
