Undertale; Ch. 6: Ruins
You stood there in the silence for a couple minutes before growing bored and walking to the next room. “Maybe it won’t be such a big deal if I leave… I mean, she actually isn’t my mom… Shoot… She’s old enough to be my grandma!” you thought out loud.
You phone starting ringing… It made you jump. You fumbled with it before answering. “Hello? This is TORIEL. You have not left the room, have you? There are a few puzzles ahead that I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try and solve them yourself. Be good, alright?” She says and then hangs up.
You notice a froggit next to you and avoid it the best you can, walking into a room off to the side, there was a bowl of candy on the table. You started taking candy really fast. But, one at a time. You took too much candy too fast, The candy spills onto the floor. You don’t even bother to pick it up. Scandalous! You walk out of the room and notice another Yellow glowing star. It was on a pile of red leaves.
“Playfully sifting through the leaves fills you with determination,” a voice said, “HP fully restored.” The world turned white for a second before the voice said, “Progress saved”.
You only walked a few steps before you encountered a Whimsum. The small monster looked sad. You tried to cheer it up. But, halfway through your first word it broke into tears and ran away. You kept walking.
`You got to a puzzle, it had a couple of rectangular holes in the wall and in between was, … What looked like a… tattered old blanket… You tried to walk on it but fell through. You fell onto a pile of red leaves. You look around the room noticing two doors. One on the right and one on the left. You went into the one on the right. Leading you to the next puzzle.
Your phone rings again… “Hello? This is TORIEL. For no reason in particular… Which do you prefer? Cinnamon or butterscotch?” Toriel says. “Butterscotch,” you say politely. “Oh, I see. Thank you very much!” She says before hanging up.
The puzzle in front of you had a rock and a pressure plate three feet in front of it. There was a wall of spikes blocking your path to the next room. You saw a sign on the wall. “Three out of four rocks recommend you push them,” it said. You push the grey rock onto the pressure plate. It was surprisingly light, considering it was half your size. The spikes disappeared into the floor. You had a lot of similar puzzles that before you got to another room. (The puzzles told you what to do on the wall.) When you were walking you tripped into a line of moldsmalls. (Three of them to be exact) You lie immobile with the gelatin creatures. You feel like you understand the world a little better. You won! You earned 0 XP and 5 Gold. The next room had a table with some cheese on it and a mouse hole. There was also another yellow star. “Knowing the mouse might one day leave it’s hole and get the cheese… It fills you with determination,” a voice said, “HP fully restored.” The world turned white for a second before the voice said, “Progress saved”.
In the next room there was a ghost laying on a bed of red leaves. It was blocking your path. “Zzzzzzzz….. Zzzzzzzzz….. Zzzzzzz… (Are they gone yet) Zzzzzzz…..” It said. The ghost was saying “Z” out loud repeatedly, pretending to sleep. You decide to “wake” the ghost.
“Here comes Napstablook!” a voice said. You decided to look at the ghost’s Attack and defence. NAPSTABLOOK - ATK 10 DEF 10.
This ghost doesn’t seem to have a sense of humor… “Oh I’m REAL funny,” he said before attacking you with what looked like tears. You dodge some attacks but get hit a little, lowering your HP. The faint odor of ectoplasm permeates the vicinity. You give Napstablook a patient smile. “Heh…” was his only reply. He didn’t even attack you…
Napstablook just looks a little bit better… “Hey napstablook!” You say. “What?” he says tiredly. “Why didn’t the ghost go to the prom?” You say. “I don’t know…” He says. “Because he had noBODY to go with.” You say laughing. “Heh… Heh…” he says before attacking you with tears again. Once again you dodge, luckily not getting hit this time. Cheering seems to improve Napstablook’s mood again. He wants to show you something. “Let me try…” He says, his tears floating up instead of falling down. He made a top hat out of tears! “I call it “dapper blook” do you like it…” Napstablook eagerly awaits your response. “It’s amazing!” You reply excitedly. “Oh no…” Napstablook says… “i usually come to the RUINS because there’s nobody around… But today i met somebody nice… … Oh, I’m rambling again… I’ll get out of your way…” He says before disappearing.
You walk around a corner and you find yourself in another room… It was more puzzles… You quickly go through them and move on. You fight a couple more monsters and get like 12 more gold. You are now low on HP. You eat a couple Monster Candies and move on, your HP fully restored. You then continue through puzzles. You eventually get a break from puzzles and fighting when you reach a room with a large tree surrounded in red leaves. Your phone rings… Toriel walks out in front of the big tree and realises you are right there. She puts down her phone and runs to you.
“How did you get here my child? Are you hurt? There, there, I will heal you” She says, “I should not have left you alone for so long. It was irresponsible to try to surprise you like this. Err… Well, I suppose I can not hide it any longer. Come, small one!”
