not a hot take at all, fortunately! many people have written about it (myself included). one of the most important works of art based on this observation is MY WORDS TO VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN ABOVE THE VILLAGE OF CHAMOUNIX--PERFORMING TRANSGENDER RAGE by Susan Stryker. it was originally a performance piece and you can listen to a reading of it here (this is not a recording of an original performance by Stryker though). this paper also recounts the history of the idea and cites a lot of further sources on the subject!
