It had been two weeks since your stitches had ripped and Poe had found out your secret. Since then, Poe, Rey, and Finn had found excuses to come and visit your chateau. Rey continued to learn how to paint, Finn often wanted to just look around the small palace. He actaully really liked your library- he hadn’t been allowed to read anything that the First Order outlawed; which had been a lot. He would borrow multiple books at a time, coming back for more only a few days later. Poe would come by under pretenses of the resistance base, but you had a feeling that most of his visits were just to get a break. You even got to meet his droid, a small BB-8 unit. These short weeks- they made you so happy.
Like right now you were traveling over to the resistance base, which was a few good miles away from your home. You had received a holo transmission earlier that day, General Organa asking for your help. The message had made you ecstatic, though you didn’t openly show it. So you went about the rest of the day in an excited blur, only seeing clearly when it had come time to travel. You had gotten the permission to travel there on your own, you guards under orders to allow you to go without them. Sometimes you weren’t sure what you would do without your Dad, he always seemed to be there for you- even when you didn’t tell him you needed help.
So here you were, zipping across the dark landscape on a lunerbike. The Lunerbikes had been made when the Umbrians first reached their moon and where unsure of the terrain. Like most speeders, the bike hovered above the ground, but this one had the option of closing up all around you, forming an enclosed pod. Right now you had it open, legs flat and pressed snuggly into the grooves of the small vehicle. The rolling, grassy plain you had to pass to get to the forest was blue and tranquil, unmarked by machines or industry. You supposed that was what your planet would look like if it was just as rural, but the main hub of Umbra was a sprawling capital city; probably the polar opposite of the moonlit plain. You had traveled 20 miles on the lunerbike and you knew most people would have prefered you traveled on a small ship to make your trip quicker, but you prefered the bike. It allowed you to get out and see the land up close, not far away in an isolated ship.
You got to the base ten minutes later, slowing the bike to a stop as the hover jets scattered dark leaves up in a rolling tornado. Jumping to the ground, you surveyed the small, dark grove you stood in. The moonlight barely flitted through the dense trees, making it hard to see. But you guessed that was the point, you wouldn’t want your secret base to be easy to find either.
You brushed away the debris and foliage, exposing the small latch you needed to activate. Pulling up on the latch, a loud bang echoed from under you and you realize- the ground under you was hollow.
Before you could scramble away from where you were crouching, the ground pulled out from under you. You yelped and grasped for the stable earth, but you were too slow. Tumbling backwards, you fell into the hidden entrance and came to a rolling stop.
“Ow.” You groaned, turning onto your back and looking back up at the tree covered sky.
Suddenly the wall behind you slid open, a blast of white light crashing over you. You sat up and spun around, seeing General Organa trying to hold back a laugh.
“Hello Princess. Would you like to come in?”
You nodded fervently and scrambled up to stand next to her. She placed her hand on your upper arm in warm greeting and began to steer you inside.
The inside of the base seems infinitely different than the surface above. On the upper ground of the planet it was entirely misty and serene, seemingly made up of only cool colors. But as you walked down the steep ramp and into the underground base, you somehow instantly felt warmer. The walls were deep bronze, with large lights the shone down on the control hubs and command stations. The bright green of the projected screens contrasted with the walls and floor and casted long shadows throughout the room, but most importantly drew your attention to the lack of people.
“Where is everyone? You asked, furrowing your eyes cautiously. Leia walked to the raised platform in the middle of the room, looking up at it like she was inspecting its usefulness.
“They’re in their barracks, or eating in the mess hall. But even if they were in here, there still wouldn’t be many.” The general said, tipping her gaze up to the high ceilings. Your rush of wonder immediately took a nosedive, Leia’s tone of sadness making sure of that. You slowly took off your gloves, now not knowing what to say.
Organa looked at you, realizing what her comment had done. She saw you looking around the room, then at the two larger doors at the far end. You seemed to be looking for someone, waiting for those doors to open. Leia gave you a long look and then smiled.
“Commander Dameron is picking up supplies down on Umbra, and Finn and Rey’s locations are aren’t in my knowledge.” She told you, a mischievous tone creeping into her voice. You straightened up in surprise.
“How did you-”
“I can sense your feelings F/n. Something I think you’re familiar with…” The General said knowingly, almost raising her eyebrows at you. You furrowed your eyebrows in turn as she talked, and then you let out a gasp that echoed throughout the room.
“Poe told you! And- and you have the force?!” You exclaimed, pounding your first into your hand upon your discovery. Leia shrugged, almost like she was saying ‘it couldn’t have been helped’.
“I’m the commanding General- I think that if anything could potentially be dangerous to us I should know about it immediately.” She replied, “Poe was just doing his job.”
You squirmed in your chair, wondering how many people knew your secret now- and how Leia had gained the Force.
“He only told me F/n. No one else needs to know about my son.”
You almost choked, jumping back a little. You looked a Leia in a new light, wondering if she was going to pull out a lightsaber and strike you down. Your eyes were wild with fear, and you were almost… you were almost shaking. The general looked at you in surprise- she knew you were going to be shocked, but not she could sense that you had been completely traumatized by being in the presence of her offspring for so long.
“Oh F/n, I’m sorry… I didn’t know how badly he’s been-”
“I’m fine.” You said shakily, already rearranging your stance. Leia watched you grow instantly colder, shoulders straightening and arms becoming rigid. She moved toward you, gently holding out her hand.
“Please walk with me F/n.” You looked at Leia’s hand, your mind still reeling. But you nodded slowly, still taking her hand. She wrapped your arm up with hers and began to walk past the raised platform. You walked in silence for a few moments, the only sound present was the tapping of Organa’s practical heels. As you neared the far away doors, you were turned to the right, Leia guiding you into another passage way. You felt her hand reassuring squeeze yours.
“F/n, I’m truly sorry for what you are going through.” She said as the door shut behind the both of you. “My son Ben… I never knew he was going to turn out like this.”
Your nerves began to settle, the arm that held yours was too reassuring to be threatening.
“But as much as it pains you to talk about, I have to ask you- what is he like?” Leia asked, coming to the end of the hallway and punching in another code. The door opened as you thought, and Leia released your arm and walked into the brightly lit room ahead of you.
You stood in the doorway, hands wringing together. Leia walked to a cylindrical device in the center of the room and tapped it, displaying plans for a large ship. She looked back at you as you walked in, keeping your eyes on the hologram. You sucked in a deep breath and pushed a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
“He’s terrifying General. I never know what to expect with him. One moment he can be as cold and calculated as ice- and the next he’s furious and chaotic, with no real train of thought. At any moment I know he could kill me- or worse…” You whispered, keeping your eyes away from General Organa. “I’ve never really seen him show any true remorse- If he’s felt any I’ve never seen it.” You finished, folding your arms more for comfort then finality.
The effort in recalling what Kylo actaully acted like made images of him appear in your brain, violent and red. You squeezed your eyes shut, banishing the memories from your brain.
You opened your eyes to see a downcast Leia Organa, clutching the top of the white cylinder. You felt a pang of regret, and sympathy. What if your father had turned out like him? What if you- no. No- you didn’t want to think of that.
Leia coughed and collecting herself, nodding up to the projection.
“Thank you. I just wonder sometimes…” She shook her head and changed her mind, “In other matters, we need to start building a ship to leave your moon.”
You nodded slowly, knowing that this was the best choice of action. Leia noticed your slight reluctance and silently took notice of it.
“Now, the first thing we need to do is create a strong enough communication device that the Empire won’t pick up our signal.” The General said, the holograph changing into an assortment of devices that assembled to become one. “We need to broadcast the need of a new base to our allies, and then get or build a good enough ship to get out of here- without alerting the first order that your father and you are involved.”
You nodded again, then looked at Leia.
“What do I need to help with?…” You ventured, a little confused. Leia smiled at you, holding out a small communication device. “We just need enough resources to build these things, and we need the support of you and your father. I just want your trust- and when needed- your help.”
The General looked at you, eyes shining with a dutiful glory you hadn’t seen in anyone - except maybe your father. It filled you with courage, with the hope you so desperately needed. The uncomfortable ache you had felt growing in the pit of your stomach disappeared. You nodded and smiled.
“Or course. I’ll always be here to back you up… General.”
**************
Your scene had changed dramatically from that day, from running around with the Resistance- to now.
Your wooden staff collided with your attacker, sending white dust flying. Kylo Ren pressed down on you, forcing your weapon to bend. You growled and broke the cross, pivoting in a circle and swinging your stick towards his side. Ren parried your attack, then brought the free end of his up at your head. You jumped back, getting a large amount of distance between you too. The white powder between your toes drifted through the air, starkly contrasting with your dark training outfit. The small drops of dark blood that fell to the dust decorated the monochrome room, smearing as you attacked and parried around the training circle. Your breathing echoed off the walls, filling your ears with the repetitive pounding noise.
Kylo looked at you, simply unimpressed.
“Again.” He said, now just looking like he was going through the motions. His lackadaisical reaction to your performance seemed to make something inside your head snap and you rushed at him. Kylo widened his stance, ready to deflect another one of your unchanging, uncreative attacks. Instead, you slid straight down and through his open legs, driving your staff thundering into the back of his left knee. Ren grunted in surprise, falling off balance but still coming to face you.
But you were gone.
You had spun up quickly from your slide, standing over Kylo. You drove your foot down on his shoulder, slamming him into the white dust. He looked up at you in shock, almost flabbergasted at your sudden rush of heightened aggression. It reminded him of someone- the white ground, the furious girl; it was almost like he was back to that first night.
And then suddenly you were bringing your staff down on Kylo’s head. He had been too late to catch your strike with his weapon, so you brought him no choice. Your teacher thrust out his hand and sent you flying across the room.
You crashed down about 100 feet away from the circle, landing flat on your back as the air rushed out of your lungs. The air shot out in one panicked breath, and you groaned angrily as you grasped at your throat. How dare he cheat- you two had specifically said no using the force!
Kylo took the few moments you were prone on the floor to stand up and gingerly touch his now bruising shoulder. You were stronger than he thought. He began to walk over to you, dusting off the powder that almost completely covered his clothes. Ren could hear you struggling, trying desperately to get air into your body. He felt a small tug of in his heart, the small sense of guilt that he was the one who had put you there. But that shouldn’t have mattered- you were his student, and you had to learn these lessons.
Your master kneeled down next to you and placed his hands under where your back was arching. You flinched away from him, eyes wild. He knew you were still scared of him… but he could live with that for a little while longer.
“Your lungs will free up in a moment, just wait for a couple more seconds.” He told you, moving his hands back from you to his lap.
Eventually they did, and your strained squirming faded into slow, deep breaths as the air returned to your lungs. You gasped like a fish, turned to your side and glared up at Kylo.
“What… what… the heck… was that?!” You yelled raggedly, your lungs still sore from the sudden paralysis, “I thought we agreed… no force!”
Kylo didn’t back away when you fumed at him, he simply shrugged.
“I didn’t want a dent in my head. You should have thought about that before you swung the staff.” He said and then got up, holding out his hand. You widened your eyes in indignation at his outstretched hand and instead got up on your own, only a mere two inches from Ren. You opened your mouth to scald him with a fiery retort, but then you looked at him again and thought it better not to. You shifted back cautiously, just now realizing how close you two were. And Kylo seemed calm, calmer than you had ever seen him… and that scared you more than any of the yelling. It was like something about that last move had flicked a switch inside his head. You shook your head and turned away from him, tugging at the fabric that had held your hair.
“I know… I know how hard this is for you.” Kylo spoke up as you kept your back turned, “Doing this kind of thing will never be easy on your own.”
You clenched your fist around your hair tie, keeping your anger balled into your hands. ‘Well maybe you should have thought of that before you began training me,’ You thought angrily.
Kylo moved again to you, his steps echoing emptily in the room. Your breath caught, not knowing what he was about to do. You never really did- and that scared you from ever really fighting back or trying to get through to him. In one false move you could cause the attack on your planet- especially now that Snoke was dead- and you weren’t sure if you would be able to go on if something happened to your father.
And then suddenly you felt the soft brush of fingertips on the back on your hand. You spun around in fear, Kylo now clutching your left hand like a vise. You felt the sudden urge to cry out, but then he beat you too it.
“I can help you. Stay here on Fondor personally and you’ll never feel this frustration ever again.” Ren blurted, the words leaving his mouth so quick you almost couldn’t understand him. You looked at his face, seeing a terrible look of desperate hope in his eyes.
It was terrifying.
But you couldn’t respond truthfully- Kylo was the most unstable person you knew, and you weren’t risking your planet over this conversation. Your thoughts were a blurry storm, scattered this way and that. The quick and careful calculations that you made here were more crucial than you could understand. But you had to speak. You licked your lips, fingers rubbing against your suddenly sweaty palms.
“I can’t. My father needs me; leaving him now… that would be to cruel.” You whispered gently, as if you were trying not to spook a skittish animal. “ I need to stay in my system- for now.” You added, hoping that the open ending made your refusal easier to take.
The next few seconds seemed to stretch on for eons, hinging between the possibilities of a complete disaster or narrow escape. The grip that your teacher had on your hand tightened at first and your heart leapt into your throat, sure that you had run out of luck. You had to keep your eyes from flickering back to the training staffs, but you knew in your heart if Kylo swung his saber at you there was no way those wooden sticks would hold up for more than a second.
And then Kylo let go of your wrist.
He straightened back up to his full height, regaining the rigid facade he portrayed while he was around others. His eyes were absent of the fire, of that terrifying hope- now only a reluctant acceptance remained.
The relief you felt flooded over like a wave, such a complete surprise that you wanted to cry.
“Okay. You can go back- for now.” Kylo turned sharply from you, leaving the room in a hurried flourish. You waited until you were he had left, until there was almost no possibility that he would come back and surprise you. Once sure you wouldn’t be seen, you let out a pained gasp, shaking. You gulped, cringing as the lump in your throat constricted your movements. The overload of information swarmed around in your brain, causing your eyes to smart. You rubbed the place were Kylo had squeezed your hand, seeing that it was beginning to turn pink.
How did this happen? What made Kylo Ren think that you would ever stay on this planet and train to join him in a galactic conquest?
And most importantly…What were you going to do?
**************
Poe Dameron walked up the steps of your estate, looking around for any signs that your were already outside. A flurry of beeps stopped him from going any farther, so he turned around and looked at his droid. BB-8 was still at the bottom of the stairs, looking expectantly up at him.
“What?” Poe asked.
BB rolled into the step, not able to actaully climb.
“Oh! Sorry buddy.” Poe said, jogging back down the stairs and hefted the droid up. BB-8 chirped at him, sounding almost like an electronic giggle.
“Of course not- That’s crazy.” Poe told him, shaking his head they got to the top step and he put the tiny robot down. The pilot knocked on the door, shoving his hands back in his jacket pockets. BB rolled around the marble veranda, looking this way and that with excitement. Poe looked through the misty windows, getting a good look inside. It was pretty empty. He gave the sleepy chateau another glace, eyes flitting around the garden, the path down to the beach, and then back to the house. To him it looked pretty empty.
The Commander looked down at his holo-clock, getting a little worried. You were supposed to meet him to talk about getting the resources to send a discrete signal out to resistance allies. At the moment they had nothing- so it was a pretty urgent matter.
But earlier this morning you had sent him a message saying that you might be late and that you were off world. Of course this could have meant anything; you could be on a diplomatic mission, vacationing, or even shopping. There were tons of reasonable ways for you to be off world. Even though Poe kept telling himself this, he couldn’t help but feel that you had left because of… your training.
It had been hard at first for Poe to wrap his head around it. How did you- a well meaning girl- get wrapped up in this galactic conflict? How had Ren even found you? More importantly, he didn’t see how you were handling it so well. Any normal person would have lost it by now. But you? You seemed unaffected. For a short time he found that terrifying, like there had to be something wrong with you to be so undaunted by your situation.
As he had gotten to spend more time with you though, he was able to see the cracks in your perfect facade. There were moments where if he looked close enough at your eyes Poe could see deep pangs of anxiety. And sometimes when you thought no one was looking you took long, deep breaths; almost like it was hard to breathe.
You didn’t deserve any of it.
BB-8 beeped loudly, knocking Poe from his thoughts. He looked down at his droid, who seemed to be waiting patiently for instruction. Poe dug his hand into his left breast pocket, pulling out the small card that you had given the General. You had given them permission to go into her chatue when they needed too; and he didn’t even need to worry about your guards- they went with you everywhere.
Poe looked at the card, then back in the direction his X-wing was docked.
“Do you think she’d mind if you we went in?” He asked, slightly wistful. BB-8 whistled, rolling away from the door decisively.
“Your right. We should just go back and wait for her.” Poe said, but as he did he walked up to the door and slid in the card. BB buzzed loudly in disbelief as his master did the exact opposite he had said he was doing. Nevertheless, the droid followed after and the door shut behind them. The first thing that they noticed was how cold the inside was. The temperature outside was humid, but not boiling hot. So the frigid air seemed incredibly unnecessary. Poe wrapped his arms around his shoulders, walking through the high-ceiling entrance. The inside of the chateau was elegant and adorned with white and black stone. The room curved to the left, showing a long sweeping staircase that traveled to the right above. Past the staircase seemed to be a sitting room, furnished with cool colored chairs and couches. Poe looked around, but then looked up at the staircase.
“Bigger then I remember it.” Poe said, referencing the night on the beach. BB-8 beeped in agreement.
Poe eventually found his way upstairs, where he found a long hallway that split off in three ways. He sighed, not sure what exactly he thought he was doing. He shouldn’t be snooping- it wasn’t very polite. The pilot was about to go walking back down stairs when his droid came rolling out a room far down to the right. Poe looked in disbelief.
“What do you think you’re- No hey, BB-8- get back here!” Poe had no choice but to follow the little orange droid as they evaded his attempts to catch them. BB had a small item held out in their mechanical arm, which spun rapidly as they dashed away from their master. After a couple failed grabs, Poe was finally able to get a hold on his droid but fell flat on his face in the process.
“Ow,” Poe groaned, and then looked up at where he had fallen.
He was inside a large, spacious bedroom, bigger than all the others he had seen. Instead of the white and light purple of the rest of the house, this room was bright and warm- with a large fireplace to the right. Poe sat up on his knees, interest peaked. The closest and biggest part of the room was more like a small sitting room, furnished with couches and many, many blankets. There was a small screen in the upper corner of the wall, displaying what looked like security and newsfeeds. There were rows of finished paintings leaned up against the walls, hiding under large tarps. Poe wondered what they looked like- what you had been painting all these years.
The floor was a dense, white carpet; contrary to the cold black stone floor of the rest of the house. Poe checked the bottom of his shoes, worried he would get mud on the carpet. Seeing that the floor wasn’t in danger, Poe moved farther into the room.
To the left, the floor raised up by half a foot and spanned the rest of the bedroom. A large, canopied bed was pressed up against the wall, along with a closet and cluttered bookcase. The resistance commander hopped up onto the raised floor. He looked at the small assortment of holo-projections on the middle bookshelf and realized- he was in your room.
Poe felt a brief moment of awkwardness, the knowledge that he had entered your room without permission swarming around in his mind. But then he saw the pictures of you as a young child- pictures of you… and another woman he had never met. In every picture you were smiling with unbridled joy, and in one you were even shown working on a farm, holding a small bird over your head in triumph.
Poe smiled, glad to see that you had been happy once- but then he frowned.
You hadn’t smiled like that yet- not even close.
Poe’s expression darkened further and he straighten up to look around your room again and then at his watch. BB-8 nudged his leg suddenly, holding up the item they had taken from the first room. Poe sighed and reluctantly picked it up and sat on the edge of the bed.
In his hands was an old, worn out travel book. It was about the size of his forearm, taller than it was long. The pages were frayed and ripped from years of use, and he could see rings from where a cup had rested on the cover multiple times. The vibrant colors of the book were now a dusty yellow, but Poe could still read the faded letters.
“‘The Ultimate guide to the Galaxy’, by Xirox Kahn. Huh.” He turned it over, seeing the inside pages were lined with markers and extra pieces of paper.
Poe opened to a random marker, seeing the planet Hoth. He laughed, recalling the General’s stories from when the resistance had been stationed there. There seemed to be small, messy notations by the information and pictures of the planet, listing the reasons why the owner had wanted to go there. Poe flipped to the next marker, Naboo; then on to Bespin, Mustafar, Kashyyyk, etc. All of them had the same commentary- some even had little scribbles. Poe flipped to the front, and saw what he had guessed: the book was yours. You must have kept this book for years, given how decrepit it looked. He wondered if you had ever gotten to go to any of these planets, if you had ever been able to enact your twelve year-old self’s greatest wishes.
Suddenly BB-8 beeped shrilly and rolled under the large bed. Poe looked up and saw you standing there at the door, slack-jawed. Poe leaped up, aware he was sitting on your bed.
You wore a dark black outfit, equipped with dark arm guards and thigh holsters; the only color you sported was a dark brown belt around your midriff.
“What are you doing here?” You exclaimed, freeing yourself from shock and rushing across the room.
Seeing you in such a different, severely aggressive attire threw Poe off and he stumbled backwards in fear, falling back on to the bed. You bent down and pointed a dirty fingernail at him.
“I asked you a question Dameron!” The man hid his face under a pillow he had grabbed, trying to escape your wrath.
“It just kinda happened. You did give me keys.” Poe explained, peaking his dark eyes from out under the pillow. You opened your mouth to say something, finger still frozen in the air. You closed it, then opened it again in indecision.
“Well, you still shouldn’t have come into my room! It’s not like a gave you an invitation to lay on my bed!” You fumed, jabbing your finger into the pillow as Poe again ducked away. He was quiet for a moment, keeping the pillow between him and you. Then you saw Poe begin to shake with laughter and then lower the pillow, a broad, cheeky smile on his face.
“Are you saying you would’ve given me an invitation?” He asked smuggly, one dark eyebrow raising up in question. You sputtered, backing away from the bed for a second.
“No! I just- I didn’t mean it like that! I… Get off my bed!” You snapped, grabbing the pillow from him and holding it away like you had really punished him. Poe held up his hands, just grateful he had avoided the real anger you had been ready to dish out; now that you were embarrassed, he would get off easier. He felt bad about getting off easy, but he didn’t really want to get on your bad side.
Poe climbed off the bed and looked at you as you replaced the pillow and kept your back to him. He took another look at your clothes, realizing why you were wearing it. He frowned, leaning up against the wall with folded arms. You let out a loud huff and turned to him, thinking about what you were going to say. BB-8 suddenly came out from under the bed, beeping up at you.
You looked down at the little droid, a smile blooming on your tired face.
“Oh thank you, I know you tried.” You said, kneeling down and patting BB on the head. Poe had heard what he said, and was now the one pointing a finger.
“What a liar! He was the one I had to chase into her, I was just going to wait downstairs- he was the one snooping!” He exclaimed, feeling betrayed that his faithful droid would out him like that. You scoffed, still playing with BB-8, who was nuzzling their robotic head into your side. You sat in silence for a moment, until Poe decided to mention your book.
“Did you ever go?”
You looked at him, in confusion.
“Where?”
“To any of your dream places? You know- in your book?” Poe said, pointing to the item of interest that laid on the floor where Poe had dropped it. You picked it up, examining it with wonder.
“I… I forgot I even had this.” You whispered, running a hand lovingly down the faded cover. You fingered through the pages, smiling as you read what you had wrote. Poe sat down across from you, watching expectantly.
“So did you?” He asked.
You stopped flipping, smile faltering slowly.
“No… I didn’t.” You said, eyes hardening as you closed the book and threw it back onto your bed. Poe felt a sting of guilt, knowing now that he had asked the wrong question. You stood up abruptly, rubbing your eyes and forehead. The initial rush and flurry of discoveries had given you a short break from what you had just come from, but now it all came rushing back to you. You stripped off the arm guards, throwing them in a large basket you kept to put your equipment in.
“I’m sorry F/n. I didn’t realize…” Poe began, but trailed off as you kicked off the black slippers, displaying the beginning of the bruises you had earned that day. He clamped up and looked at you and then your feet, and then back to you. You were so strong. After everything he’s seen you go through, he hasn’t seen you cry. Once. But Poe thought back to the little girl in the pictures, happy and free. No one should be kept from being able to feel like that. And then something clicked. Poe snapped his fingers, jolting you out of your daze.
“Hey, I have to go off world to get those communicator resources- why don’t you come with me?” Poe asked, feeling like he had just discovered the secret to life.
You turned around to look at him, curiosity beginning to burn in your hard e/c eyes.
“Really? Are you allowed to bring anyone besides BB-8?” You asked, but couldn’t disguise the mounting excitement in your voice. Poe leapt up, arms spread wide.
“Of course! The General wouldn’t mind- we’re short on people anyway.”
“How many planets?”
“At least three- we have a lot to pick up.”
You looked at him and then rested your chin on your fist, thinking it over.
“But- I may get called back to Fo- the place I train.” You said, excitement faltering. Poe’s eyes fell again to your feet, and he had to refrain from asking about your time with Kylo Ren. “But I think… I’ve been away before, but I would just have to go immediately when I got back.” You reasoned, the smiling returning to your face.
“Or we could just fake your death.” Poe said, stone faced.
You looked at him for a brief second of shock and then rolled your eyes.
“Haha. As tempting as it sounds, I think I’ll just settle for the trip- no fake murder.” You said and ran over to your holoscreen on the other side of the room. You began to type in the code to call your Dad, hoping he would pick up immediately.
“Wait, what are you doing?” Poe asked, coming up behind you.
You turned to him and smiled.
“Let’s just say I didn’t exactly do the homework I was assigned. If we’re going to pick up those parts, we need planets to actually pick up from.”
