L’appel du vide

A French expression with an interesting meaning; The literal meaning is “The call of the void” but it’s used to describe the urge to jump from high places.

The urge to do something, even without the intention of doing so.

Ever drive and a small part of you wants to swerve into the oncoming traffic for no particular reason? It’s that feeling. I am in no way suicidal, but I’ve gotten that feeling…and I hope I’m not the only one.

Maybe the urge develops from humans’ endless and reckless curiosity? To know, that you have the ability, and power, to do something unthinkable. Who knows - why am I posting this at 2 am?
