ALL I’M SAYING is we never saw dieter die, we only saw zeus pull him away from the vault, and he doesn’t actually hurt him in the process. we never see a body. it’s not out of the realm of possibility that dieter was bitten and infected by him, rather than outright killed. zeus had no particular grudge against dieter. and vanderohe being a new alpha was quite likely a purposeful infection on zeus’s part- the making-of book talks about the mutual respect between vanderohe and zeus. now he’s taking zeus’s place as the new king of the zombies, so what i’m saying is new alpha couple new alpha couple new alpha couple NEW ALPHA COUPLE

Again, shout-out to @fuchszie for writing the words "fantasy au" in the discord, which is the reason I am now cursed to draw all of these!

I think this description of artificers already speaks for itself, but to add onto it: I imagine that Dieter got both into lock-picking and also wanted to understand magic at the same time and then managed to combine the two. So while he is able to pick a lock normally without magic, he is also able to enchant keys to fit any lock he desires to open.

Shout-out to @fuchszie for writing the words "fantasy au" in the discord, which sent me spiralling into planning a 10-part series of these! We'll have to wait and see whether I actually finish them all, but the motivation is there.

I think I don't need to explain my reasoning behind making Zeus a necromancer, but the other characters should get a more in-depth description when I post them ^^

The thing that breaks my heart is you can see the moment Dieter realizes he has to close the vault from the outside to get the momentum to shut it. And you know- you know he knew he might not have enough time to get in and save himself.

Kind of hits different when you remember his "death or rebirth" line.
