My favorite Skam quote(s)
I have several favourite Skam quotes. And do you know what I really love about them? That they all have some truth although they seem to talk against each other at times. Because, it’s both true that it can be good to understand other’s battles, AND that those battles aren’t excuses for acting like assholes. It can be true that you need to find yourself alone AND it can be true that people need people. It can be true that you find hate when you look for it, but it can also be true that the hate and fear is there and should be acknowledged. Skam never spoonfed us any trutths, but the show gave us all a possibility to discuss important issues, and I truly love Skam for that.
So, here’s my fav, that I wish I listened to more:
Når alt virker håpløst, bare ta en dag om gangen. Og når en dag blir for mye, bare ta en time om gangen. Og når en time blir for mye, bare ta et minutt om gangen. - When everything seems hopeless, you just take one day at a time. And if one day becomes too much, then just take one hour at a time. Mennesker trenger mennesker - People need people.
Folk opplever helt jævlige ting hver dag, og de klarer fortsatt å være hyggelige mot andre. Å være en drittsekk er ikke bare noe man er født som, eller noe man blir. Vi må tro på rettferdighet. Vi må tro på at det gode vinner. For helt serr. Hvis ikke vi tror på det, hvem skal tro på det da? - We have to believe in justice. We have to believe that the good wins. Because, seriously. If we don’t believe that, who is going to believe it then?
Krig starter ikke med vold, det starter med misforståelser og fordommer. Så hvis du sier du er for en fredelig verden, så må du jo i det minste prøve å forstå hvorfor andre tenker og handler som de gjør. Også må du akseptere at ikke alle ser verden på samme måte som deg. - War doesn’t start with violence, it starts with misunderstanding and prejudice. If you say you want world peace, you have to try to understand why others think and act the way they do. You have to accept that not everyone sees the world the way you do.
Hvis ikke du engang har gjort et forsøk på å forstå en du elsker, da blir jeg pessimistisk på verdens vegne. - If you haven’t even made an attempt to understand the one you love.. Then I’ll be pessimistic on behalf of the whole world.
