There is a rumor going around right now that a new character is going to take the role of Batwoman on the show.

It is a rumor.

The casting info doesn't originate from an official source, and doesn't clearly state that Kate Kane is being replaced anyway.

I'm only mentioning this because I've seen some people freaking out about this today and this could easily get out of hand. Don't freak out. Right now there is no good evidence that the show is going to replace Kate Kane rather than recast her.

If there’s any truth to the rumours that they’re going to get rid of Kate to replace her with a different character in the Batwoman costume then I won’t be wasting my time on Batwoman season two and I doubt any other Batwoman fan will be either

Like to be clear to DC we’re not watching this show just to watch whatever character you want to slap in a suit and call Batwoman...we’re watching it for Kate Kane. That’s the ONLY character we’ll watch in the role of Batwoman.

And before anyone says “Oh but how will they explain why she looks different if the new actress is playing Kate”...they don’t have to

The James Bond movies didn’t end when Sean Connery quit. James Rhodes is still showing up in the MCU despite the fact his original actor left the franchise after the first Iron Man movie. And hey Sara Lance sure does look a bit different from when she first showed up in Arrow season one, doesn’t she?

Having to re-cast a character is just one of those things that happens sometimes. the show just needs to find itself a bad ass queer Jewish actress and have her take on the role of Kate Kane and leave it at that...they don’t have to “Explain it” any more than the Dark Knight had to “Explain” why the Joker was no longer Caesar Romero

Not to mention how fucked up it would be to see yet another Jewish comic character totally erased from tv.

Taking a character who is canonically a Jewish lesbian and replacing her with someone else would be utterly vile

They need to just re-cast Kate Kane (And this time cast a queer Jewish actress in the role) and continue as if nothing happened...they don’t have to explain it or replace her with a different character any more than the 80′s/90′s Batman movies did when Bruce went from being played by Michael Keaton to Val Kilmer to George Clooney

Like if three seperate men can play the exact same character in films that all take place in the same continuity as each other there’s no reason why a new actress can’t play Kate Kane in season two
