Not to keep the discourse going but I have no idea what that anon was on about everyone always being perfectly nice to David Alleyne or whatever. So I'm going to be rating real criticisms I have heard of him on the internet out of ten
"David was mean to Josh :(" - 4/10, at least this one is true, but it's not really a critique because Josh deserved it
"In Academy X we are shown an alternate future where he KILLS JOSH and NUKES CHINA!" - 0/10, you literally didn't read that storyline carefully at all if you believe that. Dani and Emma combined their powers to pull the fear that was powering his mental block from his subconscious. Wow, I wonder why he's lost touch with his personhood and hurts people in this alleged "alternate future." It couldn't possibly be because he cares deeply about others and that's one of his greatest fears, could it? Hm!
"David didn't handle the Nori breakup well :/" - 6/10, this one is also true however I don't think either of them handled that situation well and I'd honestly defend both of them. God forbid teenagers mess up. Also they're chill now we learned that.
"David tried to get between Billy and Teddy!" - 3/10, if his goal was to "get between them" he would not have waited until he thought he might die. Only giving this a 3 because yeah obviously what he did was wrong. But this criticism is like really unfair and just not true.
"David was mean to Tommy during X-Factor!" - 4/10, okay so I could actually make a whole post about this but I am FIRMLY of the opinion that this is due to some writers insistence on writinf ThinkFast as nothing more than an ao3 trope with both characters essentially being portrayed as caricatures of themselves. Yes he did seem kind of dismissive but I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously.
"David didn't tell Tommy he died on Krakoa!" - 2/10. Did you read like literally anything else during the Krakoa era orrrrrr
"David took Tommy to the Hellfire Gala where his mom DIED!" - negative 600/10. Yes this one is real someone has actually said this. I have genuinely no idea in what way that was supposed to be his fault. If you want to criticize his actions in Trial of Magneto I guess you could say it was weird that he didn't speak to him for like the entire miniseries, but once again I blame the writers.
"David ghosted then dumped Tommy and sent him into a depression spiral" - 0/10, literally never confirmed who broke up with who and until someone with actual say in canon says otherwise I have no reason to believe David did anything wrong in that situation. While it's true he doesn't have the best track record with breakups, he's also had noticeable character growth. Let's not jump to conclusions. Of course I feel bad that Tommy is sad, but it's never even been so much as implied that it was due to any action on David's part.
"He was too moderate/cowardly at first in NYX" - 1/10, honestly this one isn't worth talking about at all imo because NYX was just problematic all around, but wow, I wonder what possible reason a queer Black man would have to want to not put a third target on his back when he was already KILLED at one point due to a hate crime completely unrelated to his X-Gene...
Notice how nearly all of these critiques boil down to "he was mean to [nonBlack character]" btw...
