đŞ [HAVE THE EMOTIONS DAMN IT]
đŞ for the eulogy my muse would give for yours.
Commander Suran isâ wasâŚmore to me than my commanding officer; he was a force that drove me forward to be more than I knew I was capable of being.  He took my aspirations and turned them into a flaming reality.  He gave me an opportunity that I didnât dream of having for many, many years into my military career.  I was greatly inspired by the confidence he placed in me.  Suran knew how to push his officers to overcome their weaknesses, and he knew how to capitalize on their strengths, and he drove us to become all that we are capable of and more.
ItâŚmay not be my place to sayâŚbut I feel that the Empire has suffered a great loss.  More than just the loss of a great commander, but the loss of the impact he still could have had on those under his command.  My only hope isâŚthat the strength and drive he showed in his service to the Empire live on in those who served under him.  âŚI vow that I will strive to become all of what he believed I could become and more.
Don't do it, commander~ You've given her too much lease lately and she'll walk all over you if you're not careful~ (theromulan-q)
I donât know who you presume to be to be giving me advice on how to command my own ship.
Oh, trust me, I know better than anyone~ Â I know every possible decision youâll make and each and every outcome of each of those decisions, and the decisions youâll make after those and which one of those series of decisions will result in total chaos~~
So if you want to avoid that, then put a tighter leash on your human-crazed Uhlan~ Â Not that it matters to me; honestly Iâd be just as delighted to watch the two of you crumble~
If you really know everything Iâve ever do, then what possible enjoyment could you get out of watching it?Â
... Never mind. Iâll run my ship and my crew as I see fit, and Iâll thank you to stay out of my business.

All the replicators on your ship now produce nothing but cactus~ Have fun with that~
[Suran stared, dumbfounded, at the replicator in his office. Instead of producing the tarka heâd requested, there was a fat cactus sitting in his cup.]
=Suran to Operations. Repair the replicators. I donât care how itâs accomplished.=
Commander Suran? Sir, I would like to request permission to take part in a human wedding.
[Suran seemed to be considering this, though he looked highly suspicious of the notion right from the word âhumanâ.]
Would this be part of your research or a personal affair, Uhlan?
[Talâkaela paused and took a moment to pace around her apartment before returning to her desk to respond to her commander. Â She types up a detailed and wordy reply before erasing it and deciding that her best bet would be the straightforward approach. Â Suran didnât seem to like to waste his time trying to decode excessively wordy responses to his questions.]
Both, sir. Â But humans are often selective about who they invite to such ceremonies, so I donât know if or when an opportunity like this will present itself again.
[No, he supposed humans didnât make a habit of inviting Romulans to their mating rituals. Still, he was getting the feeling that there was much more than just a passing personal interest in this. It made him uncomfortable.]
What, exactly, would be the precise nature of your participation in this wedding?

Suran Presents: Uhlan Shaming.
@that-scary-romulan-chick
Yes sir. He is now asking questions about Romulan life. I'll tell him that replicating the fuel he'll need for his devise will take a lot of time. In the meantime, I will keep him occupied and attempt to gain more information.
[COMM _. Riov Suran [->] Uhlan tâLareth]
Very well. Iâm sure I donât need to tell you that you should refrain from answering his questions regarding our culture until we can be certain of his identity.
Misdirect. Give false answers. Iâm certain you know how.Â
Donât disappoint me, and donât end up dead. Thatâs an order.

Suran was quickly vowing never to leave his desk and comm system alone every again. It always seemed that when he returned, he received a flurry of messages that made his day much more difficult. Usually, it was because one of his crew had gotten into some entanglement with humans again.Â
Not this time, it seemed. Suran wasnât surprised to see a message from TalâKaela... but the contents seemed to be more bizarre than normal.
urgent! encountered Romulan time traveler Rakal D'Marrus 2160s. Claims Empire is in ruin; time dvise broken. He surrendered as prisoner. hostile. Situation volatile! Attempting to neutralize; stand by.
For several seconds, Suran sat dumbfounded, and then his confusion turned to anger. By the elements.. time-traveling nonsense again?
He began to compose a detailed list of steps she needed to take immediately, if not sooner. Unfortunately-- damn his position-- he was pulled away to direct his own crew on the bridge and by the time he returned, another message had appeared.
Situation has been neutralized, for now. Attached is the information scans obtained about the time devise and the fuel used to power it. He says that traveling to this time was a mistake. He's requesting that we provide fuel for his time devise. Attempting to gain his trust and obtain more information about what he is trying to do.
Suran was going to tear his hair out.Â
[COMM _. Riov Suran [--] Receptient: Uhlan tâLareth]
In the future, I would remind you that temporal investigations-- as little as I care for them-- are to be called in any situation involving suspected time travel. However, given what youâve told me, I can assume one of two instances: One, you were merely too occupied with a violent person (regardless of time-traveling) to follow that protocol.
Or two, this man is a raving lunatic and you similarly could not do so.
I have read the schematics for the device you have sent to me. Until I can ascertain more about him, I donât intend to give him what he wants. I want you to give him the impression that I will, however. Keep his cooperation as stable as possible.Â

Thereâs a sort of a dangerous flash on anger in Suranâs eyes-- a flare of nostrils, but itâs gone in an instant. Instead, itâs replaced with a dangerously calm expression and a sort of quiet anger that comes only comes from someone whoâs killing you in their mind.âSee me in my ready room. Now.â

A Romulan Child with long, thick hair and intense brown eyes wearing an way oversized Uhlan's jacket appears on the hailscreen in your readyroom and squeaks, "Commander Suran this is Uhlan t'Lareth please respond!"
@that-scary-romulan-chick
Reports, reports⌠and more reports. It was well past the start of the gamma shift on the ReviâTex. Suran glanced at the small illuminated timepiece in the corner of his PADD for the umpteenth time. The time was simply growing later, and Suran hadnât managed to make it past the first three lines of the status update he was supposed to send in by morning.Â
His efforts were interrupted⌠not that there had been much productivity in the first place⌠by a metallic trill that announced an incoming transmission on the small hailscreen sitting on his desk. Not quite ready to admit defeat with the report but still keen for a distraction, he held onto the PADD and cleared the channel to come through.
It didnât stay in his hand for long. It clattered to the desk as the Riov quickly swiveled the hailscreen towards him in shock.
âCommander Suran this is Uhlan tâLareth please respond!â
Suran stared at the screen, dumbfounded. Surely this couldnât be tâLareth. That was a child on his screen⌠but there were no children aboard the ship. How could this be? The transmission did indeed originate from within the ship.
âI donât know who you are, little girlâ but this channel is not a toy. Where is Uhlan tâLareth?â
I have the distinct feeling that she has some explaining to do.
@commander-suran
âBu-butâ!â Too late. Â Commander Suran had already cut the channel.
Talâkaela gnawed her lower lip nervously.  She had wanted to keep the trouble with âRobinâ, the Q, a secret from her commander as long as she could.  The Tal Shiar knew, and she told herself that if they felt he needed to know, theyâd inform him.  The truth was that she, like many other Romulans, was just loathe to share any information that wasnât required of her.  She might be deemed dangerous if they knew her involvement with the Q⌠Maybe theyâd label her a traitor and execute her or worse!  Even if none of that happened, would she be allowed to continue her research, her lifeâs dream, after the knowledge that she was somehow connected with a Q was brought to light?
All of these worries were buzzing in her head so loudly she almost didnât hear the buzzing chime that she had so intently been listening for. Â The child rushed to the door with a clomping of boots that were too big for her. Â Upon opening the door, she gave a yelp of surprise to find her commanderâs disruptor pointed in her direction.
Now that the Riov stood in front of the child claiming to be Uhlan tâLareth, he could see that she stood at about the height of his chest.  Her uniform was far too big on her, and she looked to have a very thin frame underneath.  Swallowing hard and pursing her lips, the preteen raised her hands and looked up at her commander, waiting silently and anxiously for him to lower his weaponâŚ
@that-scary-romulan-chick
The door swished open, and Suran held the disruptor at the ready when he was greeted by⌠a child. As if heâd expected something more, Suran looked a bit blank for a moment. Then his face set into a very tired and irritated expression as he leveled the disruptor to the tiny girlâs level.
It was, after all, very late, and Suran had wanted to be asleep two hours ago. He was silent for a moment, then spoke with heavy resignation. âNo one else with you, then?â he said as he studied the childâs facial features. Now that he saw her in person, he had to admit that it did look startlingly similar to tâLareth.. maybe it was the hair, or the eyes.
That didnât mean he wasnât still going to test her, but it did mean that his face softened and his head tilted slightly. If he really was yelling at a child, then⌠that didnât sit well with him.Â
He lowered the disruptor, re-holstering it. He assumed heâd redraw it if need be, but⌠the girl was practically shaking out of her boots. He wouldnât do that to his own child. The Riov sighed heavily. He was still determined to get to the bottom of this, but he didnât want her spooking on him.
He offered a hand out to the panicked Romulan, intending for her to take it so he could both keep a hold on her on the way to sickbay⌠and, somehow, offer some modicum of comfort. Perhaps Iâve⌠overreacted.
âWith me, girl.â
