well. it is funny that i'm getting so many reblogs missing the point but let's address that, since i did make the post by committing to the bit of taking a funny meme as serious art and trying to make people think about it

why is my art more ethical? i copied the original picture to the extent of effort i was willing to put on the bit. i made the cats fucked up in the same way, copied the proportions and colors, so why does it stop being "art theft" at some point down the line? if my art couldn't exist without the original ai generated picture, then i am an art thief by proxy benefiting from the original "art theft".

and again on the subject of intellectual property infringement, why is it art theft when the original meme is not commercial artwork? to my knowledge, no one was making money out of posting a bunch of ai cats spelling out gay sex online. who is losing money by having this image be made? if you grab a random image off google images and edit it in some way to make a meme is that theft too? is right click saving an image art theft? do you consider that piracy too?

is my image worth more because i spent time on a piece of paper making it? if my drawing has inherent value then why does the original image have no value? does copying an image create value? if spending time on a piece of artwork makes it worth something, then does spending more time on it make it worth more, and if i spent less time would it be worth less? what is the inherent value to a piece of artwork? how do you price a piece of non commercial art?
