a while ago i had the thought of buses and trains beginning to play ads over the loudspeakers during commute and i know our world isn't a very good one to live in right now, but at least we're not at that point

the insistence upon women being beautiful will never cease to frustrate me. every single female main character in every piece of media i consume is beautiful. even when she is said to be unattractive, she's beautiful. whereas men are expected to be diverse and interesting, to be characters in their own right, a woman must first and foremost always and everlasting; be beautiful. and it feels as though there is no real way to bring this up because if i see a a piece of media or a series of artworks that feature both men and women and i were to point out that so of the men look very different from each other and yet the women all fit the same cookie cutter ideal of beauty, then i would be told it's "not that deep" and that sometimes people just want to draw attractive people. but this isn't an issue with one specific person or work. this is every single one of them. every single female character is young and thin, with clear skin and big eyes. even women fall into this. it's so tired, and I'm so bored of it. when can we finally exist in a world that will expect something out of us other than beauty? to be accepted as a full human being, worthy of things other than our appearance? it makes me want to scream! this is such basic feminism and yet we! are still! stuck here! beautiful should not be considered the default state for women and for anything else to be a deviation from the norm. thinking about it for as long as it took to write this post has frustrated me so much i could cry. or strangle something.

DashCon 2 is having Oak Park Deli operate a snack stand on-site. The nearest place to buy food off-site is a supermarket ten minutes away, so please be aware of that when budgeting/packing your bags! They will be able to accomodate gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan diets, but folks with dietary restrictions should still be mindful when planning.

VirtualDash will have a cosplay catwalk of its own! If you have a particularly DashCon 2-flavoured cosplay from years prior, or want to cosplay this year from home, you’ll have a dedicated forum to show off your stuff!
