A raw firsthand account of the ongoing struggles relates to Dabrowskiâs theory by someone who is objectively âhigh-functioningâ and very talented. Self-awareness is not a cure in and of itself. http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ750762.pdf
randomness as a moral duty
âone by one, we're going to build up your visual understanding of periodic phenomenon and their relationship with mathematicsâ
1) At first you see. And what you see is special. You guard it tightly. What you see is interesting. It is the observation itself that is interesting. It is you that is interesting. 2) I think that once you see, experience, or exist as a number of contradictory or wildly different things you realize that nothing is inherently interesting. 3) From there, depression sets in. Identity is questioned. If I don't have a point of view, how can I see at all? But somehow, you continue to see. 4) Existing without attaching your identity to any one of these times or ideas more than the others, you experience things coming and going as they naturally do. At first this is uncomfortable. Then with time, it becomes enjoyable. More enjoyable. You're happy again. 5) But happiness does not equate to fulfillment... and you recall the first stage of observation where everything was interesting, longing for that first perspective of wonder and the creation of meaning without self-consciousness. 6) Here you still understand that nothing is inherently interesting...but the relationships between between yourself and others, between others and others, between ideas, between symbols...it is the relationships that make things interesting. And while relationships may have been captured in the first and immature stage by accident, now they are the focus of all observation. 7) You are mature. And you might have a chance at making decent art.
Without mathematics we cannot penetrate deeply into philosophy. Without philosophy we cannot penetrate deeply into mathematics. Without both we cannot penetrate deeply into anything.
Leibniz
He concluded the (1) theory of simple types and (2) axiomatic set theory, 'permit the derivation of modern mathematics and at the same time avoid all known paradoxes' (Gödel 1944:126); furthermore, the theory of simple types 'is the system of the first Principia [Principia Mathematica] in an appropriate interpretation. . . . [M]any symptoms show only too clearly, however, that the primitive concepts need further elucidation' (Gödel 1944:126).

The task isâŠ.not so much to see what no one has yet seen, but to think what nobody has yet thought, about that which everybody sees.
