How much does your wol(oc) care about appearance?

#depends #A'nijah is very particular about how he dresses #it's usually a marriage between practicality and style #but he is willing to forgo some practicality for the sake of more striking silhouette as long as he's not “working”#otherwise he'd compromise on the latter #but would prefer that colour wise everything is matching #at the same time he is the man who only does very basic hygiene #and cuts his own hair before the mirror #he doesn't particularly stay away from trouble so he accumulated plenty of scars over the years too #he does not shy away from them at all #now when it's about other people's appearance #he notices #and he has particular tastes #but usually doesn't show it in conversation #he's usually politely closed off so differences in attitude are minimal #even of he has own biases #wolqotd

What was your wol(oc) like growing up?

#As a kid A'nijah was pretty sickly #but hyper in spite of that #which honestly didn't help anyone #So even then getting him to bed to rest when needed had to be enforced #overall he was a bit nervous but open kid #He also had a very not pleasant habit to sneak away at night and eventually got really good at Hmm oh and he was a full blown crybaby #As a little something - reading was one of the entertainments he picked up to keep the thinking away when his health was in another dip #Needless to say he was overjoyed when eventually it improved to the point of no issue #But it left some marks by that pointSo by his teens he developed both an outward overconfidence and a constant need to prove himself #and/or his so called usefulness or capabilities to others #Of course the attitude and bravado was there to mask his insecurities and fears #But with how he overall interacted with the others in the tribe #he was thought of as hotheaded and naive but also a kind and helpful youth #So overall impression in spite of some of his shortcomings was positive #And then there was an event mid teensBut it past his literal childhood at this point

What job does/would your wol(oc) main for every role?

#mine is very limited #he's a smn in the core so technically #smn/gnb/sch #is all what he's doing #dye to reasons #as a kid/teen he was mainly a lancer and knows archery well enough #but can't perform in these roles sustainably now after his arm got messed up #in au though he would be cut off out of all casting jobs since he didn't consider learning as all was alright #so lancer/dragoon is his main #I suspect he might dabble in with rogues #and use same skills and dragon attunement for pld-lookalike (with different skills) forba tank job and viper-lookalike for variety #sure dragoons mostly use lances #but that's in ffxiv #there's actually nothing stopping them to take another kind of weapons #hehehe #otherwise he's a culinarian main #both au and non au

#actually around 18 like in arr #might vary slightly depending on au #but it will be that 15-18 range

#FFXIV #A'nijah grew up in la noscea and he absolutely and fully hates the cold weather #which is hilarious to me since he also likes when it's windy #which doesn't exactly correlates with cold weather #morover in specifically minus temperatures (on Celsius)#his throat can't handle the difference and he'll be coughing almost non stop #hence his greatest ally is an over the face scarf

How is your wol(oc) with dealing with nobility?

#wolqotd #he just talks with them as with regular people #which they are in his eyes #money and status mean nothing for A'nijah #so he let's say #lacks etiquette and is very direct #titles are not usually used by him at all #he needs someone to watch over his shoulder ideally to avoid a political incident too #in case his fists will get to itchy towards some individuals

Y'all ever think about the way video game bosses are designed to lose? How the bombastic soundtracks, the impressive displays of villainy, the teeth-rattling power of their attacks, are at once engineered not just to sell you on how unfathomably strong and vile they are, but also to make the player's inevitable victory all the sweeter?

Viewed this way, a boss battle is more like a choreographed dance - they call, you respond and counter-call. The trick is to learn the steps - once you know where to move, when to strike, when to defend and how to best allocate your resources, victory is not just achievable but actually almost impossible to avoid. You cannot help but recite the winning plays, over and again, because that is what the dance demands of you both - and is there not a savage sort of beauty in such a thing?

Is it any wonder then that we look back on these bosses so fondly, almost as if they were old friends? We danced together once, and oh what fun we had while doing it!
