Cannon divergence au: Clan head heir! Megumi and Star Plasma Vessel Yuuji
Megumi is adopted by Gojo but lives half his life with the Zein’in, brought up with the clan obsessive restriction on his life because of the value of his technique and him being an heir to the clan. This au of how megumi would be viewed as a potential weapon that his clan is desperate to control and mold into their puppet.
If Yuuji was found by Gojo after his parents died and was trained at Jujusitu high, Gojo sees his cursed energy and has a theory. (Maybe he sees Riko’s young face and how he failed her.) I still think he would visit his grandfather and have a good relationship with him, and would be inspired by his last words of “have a proper death.” Gojo and Yaga figure out that Yuuji is a star plasma vessel candidate, and tell him. Although, Gojo makes it clear that it is Yuuji’s decision to make. Yuuji accepts and plans to join with Tenegn after graduating, that doing so will help the world and will be how he has a “proper death.”
With the group tournament between the schools, I think Yuuji and Megumi would meet. Yuuji would save megumi and they would slowly become friends.
Megumi learns to value myself more than what he can do for others, how he can be more than a weapon, and learns to advocate for himself due to his friendship with Yuuji. Like Megumi feeling a lot of pressure to become who his clan demands him to be, and trying to force himself into being strong enough to tame Mahoraga. But Yuuji helps him understand that who he is, is enough.
Yuuji learns to realize that he wants to save people and be an active part of fighting curses, how he still wants to master more of his technique and learn more of jujusitu, but it opposes the agreement he has already made. He afriad to change, and is fearful of disappointing his grandfather and Gojo, and the impact on the Jujusitu world. He knows that he wants a full life and stay with his friends before dying but he is willing to give up that want, because he feels that his purpose of being a star plasma vessel is bigger than himself.
Megumi, and Jujusitu high ensemble, fight to convince Yuuji that he can choose what he wants. Some chaos may happen due to the higher ups manipulating and interfering in order to ensure Yuuji joins with Tengen.
Then the night before Yuuji is meant to join with Tenegen, the disaster curses attack. In the battle, Mahito and Kenjaku corner Yuuji and Megumi. In a last ditch effort to save Megumi, Yuuji eats Sukuna’s finger, which then eliminates any possibility that he could join with Tenegen, due to Sukuna’s cursed energy.
This sort of through line for Yuuji’s arc: “If you had to choose, the world or Megumi. Who would it be?”
This then leads to yuuji’s guilt over failing at his purpose, and his fear of becoming something he isn’t - even though, he would do it again. And Megumi has this guilt, and blaming himself, for being the reason why Yuuji is falling apart but also this horrible selfish relief. -He’s staying. He’s still here.-
