She had been giving out candies to all the kids who approached her front door. The mere sight of everyone was entertaining to her with all the different costumes she had seen but to see her own daughter in one was just completely different. Sophia was adorable to say the least and all the while she was talking about her favourite candies, Phyllis could only smile in return, nodding away in agreement with everything the little one said. Looking up, her smile faltered ever so slightly at the emphasis on the ‘my’. “She looks a lot like you.” The faerie dismissed the jab of her absence, which claimed that she had no right to be the child’s mother or even acknowledge that fact. “You’ve done well.” She knew the compliment won’t mean much to the man she once loved - still loved, but she was genuine.
Connor was very displeased with Phyllis having met Sophia and even more so as he watched her daughter talk to her so animatedly. He folded his arms across his chest in irritation, she had been doing this with every house they visited, he didn’t want to ruin her fun simply because he couldn’t handle the sight of Phyllis. She was someone whom he had cared for in the past but it had all gone downhill when she left without explanation. First he had worried, then he felt hurt but then hatred engulfed all other feelings he had for her and it had stayed that way for so long, he didn’t think it could ever change. “I know.” he said in response to her compliment. While he didn’t care about what she thought, he couldn’t help that the words he uttered had a proud undertone to it. “Sophia darling, are you ready to leave.” he asked his daughter in a completely different tone to what he usually did.
