I made a shorter video piece using the same material. Although due to the make up of this video it suggested much more and different connotations I am much happier with this video.
For my second sculpture piece I decided to create another performance piece involving my own body and seeing how I could play with a material using my body and see what would happen in certain everyday positions. I used balloons and tucked as many under my shirt as possible creating a distorted physicality and resulting aesthetic and hindered movement. I would like to push this piece forward and improve upon this video which is a mere experiment in comparison. The above series of images are documentation images.
For the week leading up to Easter I had to come up with three sculptures in three days. For the first piece I decided to continue with the colour black and create a performance piece. I was thinking of a particular mood or scenario in my head and was also thinking of Cecilly Brennans work. I decided to attempt a video piece whereby I would lie down with a pot of black dye between my legs with toilet paper resting in the pot and extending up with the original role being connected to the wall creating the illusion that the body was the original source of the black dye as it traveled up the toilet paper. Unfortunately the video did not succeed as after nine minutes of lying down I was sure that the ink was not travelling up the paper at a quick rate. I will recreate the piece again using PH paper. The photographs document the making of the installation and video making positions.
