“Oh are you not?” Maya teased as she looked at the man “I mean I could fall asleep here too more than likely.” she said smiling “I didn’t mean to bother you or not wake you, sorry.” the blonde said with a giggle
Slowly he brought his hand away from his glasses, his index and thumb inching closer together under there was only a little gap. “I was this close, but honestly you probably saved me from getting there and getting a nasty sun burn.” He chuckled. He couldn’t remember how my times that had happened before, and how every time he never learned his lesson. “No, you’re good. I got work in a little bit anyways. I should probably do something more productive...like getting the first dose of coffee under my belt.”
“Before you ask, i’m not sleeping.” Tilting his hat up, to confirm his words and shut down their suspicion on their question he beat them to potentially- or getting a mustache draw on him, a simper touched his lips. “But that wouldn’t be a surprise.” Even through his childhood, he was known to fall asleep in the most random places. Maybe it came with those sleepovers where you weren’t even offered a pillow or blanket and you had to fend for yourself to figure out how you were going to sleep through the night, or maybe it just came naturally and he was born with it. He really could find comfort in any place that was offered to him. “Can I help you? @cpstarters

MORE INFORMATION (TW: Narcissist Abuse, Weed)
Conrad was born and raised in Castle Prairie with his younger sister and parented by his two lawyer parents. which was a lot on the two children when they were younger when they felt like they spent more time with their nanny than with their actual parents that tend to spend long hours at work, or having alone time, during the night and day.
With his parents being gone, despite the nanny, Conrad really stepped up into the older brother role for his sister. Even with having 2 bedrooms, his sister tend to wonder into his room in the middle of the night telling him about the nightmare she had just had, or the ‘sound’ coming from under her bed, and those repeating nights turning into just sharing a room for a few years until she could sleep through the night without waking him with an excuse she could come up with and taking care of her nighttime routine. He made breakfast and played dolls with her and taught her how to play his video games and games he had learned to play at school so that he could do what he wanted to do while also giving her the attention she demanded. It got annoying at times, especially into his teen years when she wanted to hang out with his friends, but they really didn’t fight much for siblings. It was like having a built in ‘bff’.
Conrad had always been a popular kid throughout his whole life being so extroverted, so making friends and keeping busy was never a problem. throughout his youth, he pretty much tried out every sport there was to offer in town and played on teams until he discovered that baseball was something he liked enough to stick to and played on his middle and high school team, which only added to his popularity status.
With the absence of his parents, when they eventually took notice that Conrad had really taken on the ‘parenting’ role as a kid and that’s where things took a turn. They fired the nanny when they saw how attached their kids grew to her and his grandparents started watching them before and after school. Even without his parents around, they started to try and take control over their kid’s lives in a not so healthy way. It was one thing to be a parent and guide your kids, but another when all your choices were made for you. If Conrad wanted to play one sport, his parents forced him to do another because he was ‘better at it’. The girls he chose to date within a few weeks would send him sudden break up texts and a new girl rose from the waves out of the blue one day...and that’s when his life took a turn. Eventually he caught on and learned his mother was contacting all those girls or their parents, and the new one that wouldn’t leave his life was planted there by his mom. His life was monitored and controlled. Manipulated and abused.
In high school, as a way to have some sort of get away, he started to learn how to sail. One of his friend’s father took him under his wing and would often take his friend and him out on the boat on the weekends. Conrad adored the water more than anything- could honestly spend his whole life just sailing across the world if it made him money. not that he necessarily needed the money since his family was well off and even if he didn’t feel like he had control over his life and choices, he did get the things he wanted as some sort of ‘we love you’ disguise. But as he got older, he realized he didn’t want his hobbies to be his career. He heard stories and had friends that had their heart set on pursuing their hobbies to make them money thinking that would make them happy, and then they fell out of love with it because it became their job. Which, by the time Conrad had come to that conclusion, he really felt lost what he wanted to do with his life. There was pressure for him to pursue different careers from his parents- all ones that paid well, but nothing he actually wanted to do. The pressure only turned him away from wanting to figure it out and not think about it. It was only here and there thoughts that caused anxiety that he pushed away with weed to push the suffocating thought away.
Straight out of high school, Conrad went to community college to get his general education done and worked on top of it as a waiter. He figured it was the smartest move to set himself up for whatever direction he went in and to give him more time, and also helped him make his own money while doing that. In that time, and after he got his associates in general education, he got training to be paramedic. By that time, his relationship with his parents grew more toxic as he started to pull away more and more and verbally, it got more toxic.
Once his sister graduated high school, his parents wasted no time moving away, trying to bring both him and his sister with them, and his arranged girlfriend proposed within the same day. And as toxic as it was, Conrad packed his things overnight from his apartment and went on a year sailing trip without a word, living on the water in the Greek Isles before recently finding himself back in town.
