ABOUT
tw. mentions of abuse.
+ Born in the passenger seat of his uncle's beat up Chevy, Conrad Jacobson's life was always meant to be anything but normal. He was the outcome of a drunken night shared between a UCLA student and Cowboy. A night that only came back in memory when two pink lines appeared on a dollar store pregnancy test. + They tried to build a life together anyway. The Engers embraced Savannah without hesitation, eager for the arrival of their first grandchild. For a short while, things were looking up. But as the due date neared, the mask slipped, revealing Ricky's toxic behaviors. It wasn't long before repeated calls to the local police department caught up with him, leaving him sitting behind bars. + And while Ricky was locked away, Carl had stood by Savannah's side. To him, stepping up as a father figure for Conrad wasn't a choice but simply the right thing to do. So, without hesitation, he raised the boy as his own - even signing the birth certificate. + From then on Conrad grew up on his family ranch, a plot of land past the town line that had been in his father’s bloodline for generations. It made for a good and honest upbringing packed with mudpies and chicken wrangling. Teaching him how to read a horse’s eyes long before a book and the art of turning a good harvest into some extra cash. + By the time he hit high school he was everything his parents and grandparents had raised him to be; gentle, polite, and dependable. But his world shattered at the ripe age seventeen when his grandfather had unexpectedly passed away and Ricky Engers decided to make an visit. + Ricky had only came back for the ranch and if not the whole thing a piece of it, at least that's what he insisted on. Instead he was met by a heated family, Conrad had been confused as to who the man was and why he was demanding such a thing. And after a shouting match with the stranger and a couple of choice word, it's when the families secret finally came out; Carl wasn't his biological father, that stranger, Ricky was. + Conrad completely derailed after that, finding himself too caught up in a whirlwind of emotions. He started pushing boundaries, sneaking out, taking the old truck for reckless joyrides, and showing up to bonfires looking for reasons to snap. He tested his father's uncle's patience at every turn, and picked fights with his mother over everything and anything. The only person he hadn't given a difficult time was his grandmother. + By the time he graduated high school, things hadn't really gotten but they hadn't gotten much worse, either. Conrad wasn't home enough to cause issues and while his parents adored him and understood, it almost seemed like much needed break for everyone. + Furthering his education became an excuse to move to town, even if it was just a stone's throw from home. While he still returned to the ranch Sundays for their weekly family dinner and to occasionally lend a hand on the ranch he still needed the space to heal and discover who he was as a person. + Though college was more about figuring himself out than truly healing, he eventually reached a place of acceptance. He was still the person his had family raised him to be. Even if Ricky was a his biological father, Carl had been the one to step up. + After graduating with a degree, Conrad shifted his focus back to the ranch and making amends with his family. He traded late nights partying for early morning feeds, fast food runs for a crowded dinner table, and college roommates for his family. While his move back home was temporary, he stayed long enough to save for a down payment on a place of his own. + Years later, Conrad's life has settled into a peaceful routine. He bought his dream home, a small two bed, two bath cabin in Fisher Cove featuring a dock for his kayaks and paddleboards, plus a massive yard where Bandit can roam freely. He remains at the ranch, working side by side as his father's right hand man. It's a simple, calm existence, and a life he's proud to have built.
