On Spirituality
When people ask me how they can lead a more spiritual life, I like to turn the question around and deconstruct it into: âhow can you lead a more awakened spiritual life?â For some people, spirituality is rooted in their religious beliefs. However, my definition of spirituality is inclusive of anything that allows you to tap into your true, authentic self that is in alignment with something that is greater than yourself--some call this âGodâ, some call it the âhigher powerâ, and others call it ânature.â
Knowing we are spiritual beings is the starting point for living a purposeful life. Knowing that we are children of âGod,â or a âhigher powerâ is such an amazing awareness. It should be noted that when I speak of âGod,â im not talking about the bearded man upstairs; I hold âGodâ to be inclusive of all things [God is All]. Being conscious of the fact that the âItâ that made flys and mountains, rivers and stars, also made you is an such amazing understanding. It means that the fact that you were born, and that you are here on this earth as a human being is nothing but grace.
There is no one in creation like you. Nobody. And the fact that you are here, matters. What you have to offer the world is like none other! No one can bring a level of uniqueness and authenticity like only you can. So, it seems to me, that we must honor ourselves and be as truthful with ourselves about âwhy we are here,â âwho we are,â and âwhat we were meant to bring the planet.â
