Im honestly kind of upset that im not seeing more outrage over his ban. Reinstate him now! He was always a kind and caring guy. Fucking racist transphobic ass tumblr staff.
the harassment and subsequent banning of salem was racist and, especially, anti-black, true. and, i would be willing to wager, PRIMARILY.
but it was also rooted in transmisogyny. because salem stood in solidarity with many of us. he drew us like real people. he did not draw us as caricatures. he made it very clear he saw the beauty and worth in trans bodies that don't fit strict gender presentation roles, with his OC and characters like hitch being men with large breasts and hips, and women like hitomi having sharper features and less curves.
it was clear that he was true to his ideals that trans bodies of all kinds were beautiful. he wasn't blowing smoke; he was actually depicting trans men *and* trans women with the features they (and we, for trans women) hated about ourselves or found dissonant.
and they fucking termed him for it. because his proximity to trans women made him a huge target, and his open and PROUD blackness added to that..it gave them justification. it also gives them plausible deniability because this time they target a trans man who just so happened to have many trans women in his orbit.
he didn't hide that he was black, or fat, or traumatized, or that he loved trans women, and that's why you all had to have him ran off the fucking site.
because this site is racist. it's transmisogynist. and if it can't keep killing black trans women, they'll settle for a vocal black ally of trans women.
trans cat girl, Hitomi, feels intimacy.
I wanted to draw Hitomi in a safer and trusted but vulnerable manner. she is very touch starved so any form of intimacy makes her tear up.
I think drawing trans bodies in a very loving and safe manner while depicting such vulnerable moments especially with a transfem character is important to me. Hitomi is so deeply loved by Hitch. she is in good hands
