Support for the Windows 7 operating system ended almost a year ago. This means that Microsoft wants Windows 10 to be continuously upgraded to keep devices running safely and smoothly.
If you have an old PC or laptop that is still running Windows 7, you can purchase the Windows 10 Home operating system on the Microsoft website.
You don't need to spend money, though, Microsoft's free upgrade offer that technically ended in 2016 is still working for a lot of people.

Quoted oxibox from CNET, when Windows 10 was first released in July 2015, Microsoft offered a free upgrade offer for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users until July 2016.
