feminism should be insanely popular because we are talking about the interests of literally one half of the human population, being oppressed by the other half, in EVERY country, EVERY context, EVERY community, EVERY sphere of life, which is unparalleled; the oppressor being ubiquitous and unescapable THROUGHOUT human history, irregardless of political, economical, cultural, international factors, shifts, movements, events, by the sheer virtue of the reproductive model of our species; and EVERY woman will be constantly interacting with her oppressor, and constantly feeling the effect her oppression has on her life, mind, body, soul, well-being. women everywhere should be STARVING for feminism. but also feminism decidedly CANNOT be allowed to be insanely popular because it would inevitably have a profoundly destabilizing effect on the way our very society is organized, down to something as simple and constant as the relationships we all build with one another. i would say that's why pop-feminism is ubiquitous and toothless but actually that's not even true because pop-feminism doesn't even try to address the very basic emotional physical psychological political intellectual needs women have that should be leaving them starving, and it doesn't promise to. women don't engage with pop feminism bc they expect it to give them a genuine break from men. it's not some kind of synthesis or underwhelming middleground we just got psyopped something severe
