“Next time or next round?” He’d been tensed up with trying to act like everything was fine and dandy, so maybe just this once he should let loose. He didn’t trust her, but it was a tempting environment. “Yea, alright..Only if you drink with me as much as I do. Deal?”
“i knew you’d come to your senses!” She exclaimed jumping up and hugging her new friend. “This will be the best night ever!”
Reaching forward, she twisted a lock of Akira’s hair around her finger and kept her smile so tightly in place. “Friends.” The word made her want to gag, but if this girl was going to be fake, Amber was going to show just what it looked like. “Always willing to sped some time with my favourite new girl of the town. How could i say no?”
“Of course!” She took another drink and smiled. “You know you should really let me help do your makeup next time, it would be so much fun!” She made a passive aggressive jab at the girl’s looks.
“Yeah, she is.” Harry never doubted Olivia’s commitment to him and he was sure she felt the same. “So you’re new to Chicago, and the first thing you come up with is that everyone here cheats?”
“I mean it just seems like everyone is looking for someone new to get with all the time. That’s just my first impression of everyone though. I mean... I’m not wrong am I?”
Akira sat alone outside staring out into the endless blue sky. The night before she had spent it with Josh, unintentionally of course, and after her desperate attempts to tell him to stop hadn’t succeeded, Akira now felt powerless. The world was off balance, and she feared what would happen next. She didn’t want to tell anyone, she didn’t want to talk to anyone. She was once nearly invincible, beautiful, bubbly, and innocent. She now felt she was anything but that, she felt worse then the day she lost... it. Pulling her knees to her chest she heard footsteps, but she didn’t look up, she couldn’t. She had forgotten how to be herself. “Please, just go.”
“Uh…this isn’t what it looks like.”

What the fuck kind of question was that? “Is that so weird? Uhm, yeah, pretty sure. Born and raised.” Was being committed to someone that unusual? His parents had done it, he’d been loyal in every relationship he’d had. Maybe this girl was just different. “This ex happen to cheat on you?”
“A little, it’s cute! I mean, that you are so loyal, but is she?” She tucked her hair behind her ear. “Of course I don’t know her. I’m sure she is perfect.” She glanced behind him and settled back. “No, of course not, he isn’t from wonderland.”
“Oh, always, darling.” There was a heavy sense of sarcasm in her statement, but she hid it behind a plastic smile and an offering of the bottle. “I better not get in trouble for aiding an under-aged kid out.”
“Of course not? Who would tell? It’s just a drink between friends isn’t it?” She took the bottle and drank. “What are you up to? Something unimportant right? I’d love to spend sometime with you.”
“Oh, friends, are we?” It wasn’t that simple. He needed to investigate after this before he could accept it since he wasn’t trusting anymore. “I like the sound of that.” He lied before he examined her carefully as she slid the drink to him, “Convincing appearance….I’ll drink this, alright? But, no more.“ He smiled.
“Fine.” She sighed. “Two drinks this time, and then next time shots,all night. Okay?” She took a drink from her glass smiling, hoping he would agree so she could continue to slip him drinks.
“Wait- second best?” He paused, giving her a look - a quipped brow, expression laced with questions. “Colors? You’re putting a lot of thought into this already.”
“Of course! I mean, I’m sure my other siblings will be just as excited. But I want to make this wedding perfect.” She smiled excitedly at him. “Second... Maybe third? I don’t know where you rank, I mean you are telling me this in a bathroom, so definitely not first.”
“Oh, so you’re here just for me? I’m flattered.” Cameron replied, an eyebrow raising at how quickly that drink went before calling the waitress over again to order Akira another one. “No, not really. Was maybe hoping to see a few familiar faces, but seeing unfamiliar faces is fine, too. Better, even.”
“Really? Do you not like your friends or something?” She asked taking the drink the waitress quickly brought.
“This is Wonderland Akira. People seem to just die from what I have heard. Yes we are trying to upset the way things are but we know that won’t happen without a few of our own being knocked off in the process.” Serena shook her head some, smiling a little bit. “Yes I do hear everything. Well everything people want to talk about at least. And no I am not an undercover secret agent. I just liquor, no gadgets ya goof.”
“You are Secret Agent Serena, Double 0 Serena, and liquor is a weapon no man can refuse. So I mean, you are a pretty great undercover agent if you ask me.” She smiles sweetly at her sister. “We’ll all be okay, you’ll see.”
“I’m more aware then you think”
“But I’m sure you think you are clever”
“Oh I’m sure you are.” She smiles a little. “I’m not too clever, I’m more pretty then I am clever.”
Harry snorted, “I wasn’t doing anything. I’ve actually already got a girlfriend, so you’re not interrupting any sort of pick up plans.” He folded his arms over his chest, giving the girl a smile. “Can I ask why I’m being used as a personal wall, though?”
“You have a girlfriend? And you don’t cheat on her? I’m not saying I don’t believe in love, but are you sure you’re from around here?” She laughed a little at the idea. A girlfriend. This man was a joke.
“I’m hiding. From an ex.”
Charlie narrowed his eyes at her with a small smirk, “Mm, I still don’t know.” He tried weighing the consequences as she lead him back to the bar, and listened to her points. “Nothing? That’s placing far too much trust in the city of Chicago along with liquor, and I really shouldn’t allow that side of me to be displayed at the moment. It’s..a personal reason, I presume, but don’t let me stop you from having another drink.”
“Not the city of Chicago, in me, you’re new friend. Plus I don’t get that drunk.” She bought two drinks despite his request and slid it to him. “Please don’t make me drink alone?” She asked giving him a sweet innocent look.
Turning to face the newcomer, Amber was completely ready to say yes. That is, she was ready until she saw who had crashed her conversation. “I mean,” she started slowly with a delicate shrug of her thin shoulders, “since he won’t, why not? Girl fun is always more fun.”
“We always have fun don’t we Amber?” She gave a small giggle, glancing at the bottle. “Are you going to share?”
