(via Matthew 6:1-4 – FORGET THE REWARDS, I’LL DO IT FOR FREE! (30th January 2010))
REWARDS IN HEAVEN. Somehow that seems wrong to me. Surely heaven is enough reward and besides, if all sin is regarded as the same and deserving of hell, how can good deeds then be rated on a scale, and rewarded accordingly, yet Matthew 6:1 says “Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, FOR YOU WILL LOSE THE REWARD from your Father in heaven.
A FEW QUESTIONS, LORD. Does that mean I make no plans for tomorrow? That I just live from day to day? Does it mean that I just don’t care about planning for the future? Just concern myself with what happens today?
Matthew 6 - Part 5 – A DIET THAT REALLY WORKS! (2010)
I bought some new bathroom scales recently, but I don’t like them. They tell you about your body fat ratio, and a number of other things, to help you determine not only what weight you are but how fit and healthy you are. They told me that I have crossed the line and that I am now obese. Fortunately, I don’t have any trouble with dieting. Weight falls off me when I make decisions to lose…
The last 3 days have been painful. Literally painful! I was playing with my grandson and crawling, on my knees, through tunnels that we made out of the cushions on the lo…
Jesus taught His disciples some principles of prayer on the mountain. The Lord’s Prayer, as we call it should more appropriately be called “The Disciples Prayer”. There are some great principles for “spending time on your knees” in this prayer. It’s not so much the words to pray that are important in this prayer. It’s the “how to pray” principles that are the important part. This isn’t just a prayer that I am to simply learn by rote.

Jesus said, "Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose."

"... God will surely come to help you and lead you out of this land of Egypt. He will bring you back to the land He solemnly promised to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”

Promised land © Created by Ross Cochrane (AI Image by NightCafe) “So Joseph and his brothers and their families continued to live in Egypt. Joseph lived to the age of 110.” Prayer: Thankyou that this world is just a stop off point on my way to another place where I will live forever in Your presence. While I am here, help me to know Your purposes for my life and obey what You have called me…
(via Genesis 50:14-20 – FORGIVENESS VS REVENGE – Part 2 ) Warren Wiersbe writes “... This reminds us of what happened on the cross. ...Out of the greatest sin ever committed by humankind, God brought the greatest blessing that ever came to humankind.” Salvation came through Christ dying for our sins.

K. A. Mathews writes, “Does this mean that Joseph indifferently dismissed their crimes? No, he will forever be “the one you sold into Egypt” but God’s greater purpose of preserving life supplants any thought of revenge (cf. 50:19).”
Past sins have a way of wreaking havoc in our lives, if we let them. We continually think of how we have failed others and failed the Lord, even after receiving forgiveness.

In Genesis 50:4-13 we find a story about the state funeral of Jacob. However, there are some basic principles here that go beyond a funeral service and burial. I have placed the following in a prayer.

(via Painting for my son on his birthday) This painting depicts Jesus, the Lion of Judah, resting underneath your branches, but also guarding you and guiding you. He is your strength. He is your King of kings. He is fearsome, but protective of you, present in your life at all times, powerful to achieve His purposes in your life and He watches over you.
