Cutting VAT means electric bills should drop by 5%, which sounds great until you remember electric costs just increased by 5% this month. This literally puts people back to how much electric cost in June 2026, and by then the price of electric had already increased 50% since 2020.
These cost of living measures are designed to sound good without having to actually spend money or force businesses to behave responsibly.
hot take, but Christopher Nolan was a better filmmaker when he understood how to keep a movie under 2 hours in length.
He's going to make school kids learn fucking Wonderwall isn't he?
these politicians put on a t-shirt under a jacket and think they're giving off "common man" vibes when they're actually giving "wetherspoons manager"
this means keir starmer doesn't get to go to the world cup final lol
"Let people enjoy things" applies to "let people enjoy being haters" too yknow.
Also can I just say that Sam Neill understood that raptors are something to run away from, not something to train up for the fucking military Chris pratt
It is absolutely unforgivable that the UK media turned Ann Widdecombe into some fucking cosy old media personality when she was actually the epitome of Tory scum. She supported section 28, opposed equalising the age of consent for gay young people and opposed abortion. She converted to Catholicism because the Anglicans accepted women priests. She told poor people if they couldn't afford cheese sandwiches, tough shit. She believed there was no automatic right to affordable food. She said in 2019 that "science may yet produce an answer to being gay." She opposed welfare, once asking "why should families who are within the income tax net have to subsidise fathers who abscond and leave their wives and children so that the state has to pick up the burden?"
And this was not some obscure backbencher. She was a minister in government for 7 years. During that time, she defended the policy of chaining and handcuffing pregnant prisoners to hospital beds, she lobbied against workers having rights to holidays and she wanted to raise the women's pension age. It is absolutely disgusting she's been treated like some poor old woman who met an untimely end. She did real measurable harm, and as far as I'm concerned she's burning in the same pit as Thatcher.
Already deeply sick of hearing about Andy Burnham.

New developments in pictorial form
remember this the next time they tell you that centrism is the route to popularity
Screenshot your photos of Burnham now so you can compare it to 2 years from now when he looks haggard as fuck
I guess its back to kids getting drunk on street corners then
There are racist pogroms on the streets and we are banning children from Tik Tok.
