Keroro Gunso Movie 2026 New Info Megapost: Title, Key Visual, Trailer*, and More Revealed! (On Accident...)
*At the initial posting time, the trailer is currently privated due to the postponement of the official announcement, with all other information having leaked ahead of time via premature press releases that were eventually removed. I’ve left an incomplete section for now, which I’ll update when the video is released.
We finally have substantial news on next year’s movie! As with last time, I will be dividing my reporting into an objective coverage only post (this post), and then dump all my personal opinions and hot takes in a later follow-up. All the information is taken from copies of the same press release article that got plastered around before being taken down, so for now you’ll basically have to take my word for it, but I will link to a copy of the press release when the embargo is lifted.
The movie will officially be called Shin Gekijouban Keroro Gunso ☆ Fukkatsu Shite Sokkou Chikyuu Metsubou no Kiki de Arimasu! (新劇場版☆ケロロ軍曹 復活して速攻地球滅亡の危機であります!) In English, this approximately translates to “Keroro Gunso the New Movie: We’re Back, and the Earth is Immediately in Danger of Destruction, Sir!” The tweet from Director Fukuda hinting that Shin Gekijouban was the title header was indeed part of the formal title. As previously confirmed, the film will be released in Summer 2026 (no exact date yet).
(The video is still TBA due to the announcement delay; however, we do have a handful of stills from the press releases. I will add the video here and write a summary when that comes out.)
From the official press release, here’s a brief summary about the movie’s plot (translated by me).
“The Keroro Platoon is spending their lives lazing about (Invasion? What invasion?) when, one day, they’re confronted with an outbreak of several mysterious phenomena all across Japan! Sensing that the Earth is in danger, the Keroro Platoon tackles the threat head-on, with their pride as invaders on the line! What’s the meaning of the mysterious letters they encounter during their travels…? The largest scale battle in Keroro Gunso history hits the scene in the Reiwa era!”
Character Design Artwork Released
Key art showcasing the new character designs by Satoshi Koike for the Keroro Platoon and the Hinata Family have been revealed (names in alt text to save space):
In addition to the new information, we’ve received new remarks from various returning cast members (also translated by me):
Jouji Nakata, voice of Giroro:
“In addition to the ongoing serialization of the original manga, thanks to the efforts of those working hard on the YouTube channel and merchandise releases, and of course all the new fans who’ve joined along the way, we’re able to put out this movie. I’m grateful to you all. This rebirth of Keroro Gunso has been put together with the support of dependable staff who’ve been with us since the beginning, such as Oizaki-san, Koike-san, and sound director Tsuruoka-san, plus the welcome addition of the new director, Director Fukuda. What will this combination come up with? I can’t wait to see what happens. I hope you all look forward to it too! Please head on over to the theater. We’ll see you then!”
Takehito Koyasu, voice of Kululu/Kururu:
“A Keroro Gunso animated film is coming back to theaters for the first time in 16 years! It’s because the TV anime is about 20 years old now. It still amazes me to realize that much time has really passed. Many of you might be surprised to this day that I’m the one playing Kululu, but this cast is truly star-studded overall, and the thought of getting to breathe life into these characters together once again fills me with excitement! Definitely give it a watch, whether you’re familiar with the series or not. I’m sure it’ll leave a lasting wonderful memory.”
Takeshi Kusao, voice of Dororo:
“The Keroro Gunso anime 20th anniversary project, a brand new movie, opens in theaters in Summer 2026! The Keroro Platoon is back for the first time in a while. Hmm…what story could they be telling this time? I hope I can make my character show off with more of a presence than usual (lol). Look forward to it (de gozaru)!”
Chiwa Saito, voice of Natsumi Hinata:
“Back in the good old days when we were recording Keroro Gunso, I, who had barely debuted as an actress, got to be surrounded by legendary seniors in the industry every week, yucking it up and having a great time. I still think about those days even now as a treasured part of my youth, keeping my spirits up. And now it’s finally my turn to pay them back in kind! How can I do that, I wonder? I’m very much looking forward to being back in the booth recording with my senpais after so long. From the bottom of my heart and Natsumi’s, I’m so excited!”
Akiko Hiramatsu, voice of Aki Hinata:
“I get to see Kero-chan and the others again?! And in a new movie too?!!! My oh my! ♪ I’m so shocked and thrilled!!! The original Keroro manga is great, of course, but the voice acting team, brimming with passion for the fun of the craft, made the recording studio full of laughter. ♪ Getting to make more Keroro with everyone again after all this time is the greatest thing ever! (Heart) Please, please come down and enjoy it. (^-^)♪ I can’t wait to see you all! ( 〃▽〃) From Mama Aki.”
