“Measure That With Your Heart”
https://cookingdonewrong.wordpress.com/ Well… Cooking is hard. That’s the general synopsis of the first time we all tried cooking together. Getting all the ingredients and finding the time were definitely two of the hardest parts of the process. As three college students, all with finals closing in like the Grim Reaper, we were also under a lot of stress. However, this was exactly the thing we needed.
On Monday, we decided that the first two things we would be making would be peanut butter cookies, along with some hot chocolate. Since it’s almost the end of November, we decided the one thing that could make both of these things even better would be watching the Polar Express together… on full volume… in the middle of our dorm.
The whole purpose of our blog is finding recipes that are easy to make, fast, and the most important part – cheap. We also try to include things that can be found around campus. For example, everything used, besides the Swiss Miss (from the Dollar Tree) and vanilla extract (from Walmart), were bought on campus.
Without further ado, here are the recipes:
Hot Chocolate Ingredients and Measurements:
-(6) packs of Swiss Miss
-(2) regular sized Hershey chocolate bars
-(1 half cup) of 2% milk [or any milk that is wanting to be used]
-(1 teaspoon) of salt
-(2 cups) of water
First, you’ll need a crockpot. I got mine Black Friday shopping at Kohl’s so it was only $5.99. However, they’re not much more expensive, usually coming in at about $15-$20. To me, I think it’s a great investment. Then, plug in the crockpot, pour water and Swiss Miss in, and stir. Next, turn the setting to the highest level and wait for the mixture to get hot. After about 15 minutes, stir the mixture so the Swiss Miss is mixed thoroughly and go ahead and plop the two Hershey bars in. So, I got the chocolate right after thanksgiving break when nothing had been restocked, so I ended up using Hershey chocolate with almonds and having to tediously separate the chocolate from the almonds. If possible… just buy the regular chocolate. Keep stirring until both bars melt all the way. Then, slowly stir in the milk- only adding about ¼ of the mix every two minutes while stirring in between. After all that stirring, add the salt in, which just helps the taste of the chocolate come out more. You could also add cinnamon. Let this sit for about 5-10 minutes before serving. Overall, this recipe takes about 25-30 minutes to make. But during this time, you could be making cookies that go so well with it.
Peanut Butter Ingredients and Measurement:
-(1 ½ cup) of peanut butter
-(1 cup) of sugar
-(1) egg
-(¼ teaspoon) of vanilla extract
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, we started mixing everything in a bowl. The peanut butter and the sugar went in first and we mixed until they were combined. Next, we poured in the vanilla extract in and continued to mix. Lastly, we stirred in the egg until the batch started to look like peanut butter cookie dough. The mixing and stirring should only take about 10 minutes or so. Next, we grabbed a cookie pan and laid out half-dollar sized balls. We ended up doing 2×4 on the pan since it was smaller. We put them in the oven for about 12 minutes. After taking them out of the oven, we put them in the fridge in order to cool them down. The ended up being so gooey and so good.
Overall, everything was so good and since we’re so close to finals, it was a much needed break from reality.
Motto for these recipes: “Measure that shit with your heart.”

Cooking Done Wrong
Three college students, Bri, Isaac, and Frankie, brave the world in an anticlimactic story of cooking on a budget. With buses that only really run from campus to Walmart, the resources will be limited. On campus, the kitchens provided are small and some delicacies must be sacrificed. Two out of three barely know how to make boiled water, so the experience will be life-threatening for Isaac. Join us on an adventure that even we aren't sure where we're going.
