Jackson furrowed his eyebrows and picked up a pen to fidget with, finding that to be an appropriate alternative to running a hand through his hair. It seemed like an odd topic, Cooper checking in on one of his faction members, especially one who was so new to their job. “Abigail Mills?”

"Right." Cooper nodded, clicking his fingers. "That's the one." As if he had ever forgotten her name. "I just have a few standard questions; it's not often we get someone coming in from the outside and the Council always has questions. Bureaucracy, you know?" He let out a laugh and shrugged off the statement as he continued, "anyway, how do you think she's integrating into Hub society? You probably have more important things to do than keep an eye on your whole faction, but... have you noticed anything worth mentioning?"

Oh, that was unnerving. Jackson tried not to show it, glancing out at the hallway before clearing his throat and walking across the room, smoothing out the front of his shirt after taking his seat. “Something I can help you with?”

If there was one thing Cooper had learned from his conversation with Saskia, it was that interference without consultation would not earn him many brownie points. So, despite the fact that he was certain he could intimidate Jackson to the point of submission, here he was. Ready to ask. "I'm only here for a follow up, don't look so nervous." He flashed him a grin. "It's about our newest resident; I assume you know who I'm talking about?"

Jackson furrowed his eyebrows as he approached the opened door to his office, peeking in slowly when he arrived. “Sorry, was there something you needed in my office or…”

At the sound of the door opening, Cooper turned, a smile painted on his face. "Ah, Jackson." He shrugged, hardly bothering to stand from the seat he occupied. "I came to see you, actually." Gesturing towards the young man's office chair, he waited for him to sit down.

“Only plants?” Willow pouted and fought her inner biologist from mentioning that plants are necessary to keep humans alive. 

"Maybe it’s just my thing. Why’re you in here if they’re just plants?"

"Maybe. Maybe I could be persuaded otherwise if I had the time." He shrugged, smiling for a moment. "Honestly? I'm here because the Atrium's a good shortcut."

Pash nodded her head up and down immediately after he asked her another question. She wasn’t the type of person to not do what she was told to begin with, so her previous outburst had been a mistake. “Right, I won’t speak unless spoken to again.” She mumbled as her eyes watched him reach for his taser. A wave of fear washed over her since Pash did not want him to have to use that on her. Not that it would be the first time, but it wasn’t exactly the most delightful of experiences. She would do anything to not have that happen.

"Good." His head moved a few inches, not quite making it to a nod, as he considered the Host. She was afraid, of course, and there were times when he couldn't quite fathom why, when they had the ability to take over human bodies, they seemed to lack any other abilities. She was almost pitiful, being so afraid of a taser, of all things. But it did ensure control. "So, tell me, Host... what are you most afraid of?"

"Well hello, fancy meeting you here, eh?" Jonny said as he turned to face the person that already occupied the room he’d staggered into. Things had been rough for Jonny lately - his mind was all screwed up - and he’d taken to getting drunk and wandering around. Was it a bad idea? Yes. Did Jonny care? Not a bit.

As the door swung open, unaccompanied by the usual knock, Cooper looked up from his desk, his eyes narrowing at the sight of Jonny. But he wasn't entirely disappointed to see the soldier; he had been intending to speak to him directly and having him stumble in only made things so much easier. Standing, he nodded, a slight smile appearing on his lips. "Jonny Stark. To what do I owe this pleasure?" His own stupidity, probably. But he'd be even more idiotic if he didn't try to walk - or rather, stagger - away upon realising his mistake; and Cooper wouldnt let that happen. He stepped around his desk in seconds, keeping his pace even as he approached the idiot before he stepped between him and the door. This would be interesting.

"Yes you are, if only to prevent us both from this situation. I mean neither of us enjoy the other or am I wrong?"

"I'm glad to hear that you'll be more conscientious next time." His lips curled upwards for a second and a derisive snort escaped him. Was she being serious? Did she know when to stop talking? "You know what, you should learn how to address authority appropriately. Those ration points you're so fond of?" He paused, a more genuine smile appearing for a few seconds before his gaze narrowed, "I'd watch your balance carefully. You're five points poorer already."

"Look at this place, it deserves more than just a pass through" she said, her eyes in awe of the flowers and trees that surrounded her.

Glancing around once more, he shrugged, "unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of time on my hands. Maybe later, though. After all, they're only plants."

"Any reason you sat at my table?" Saffron asked, looking the person up and down before taking a bite of her food.

"Any reason you've forgotten your manners?"

Brad crossed his arms over his chest, though the man verbally agreed with everything he had said; there was a nasty glint behind his eyes that told Brad that his words had been in vain. He could almost see the plan forming in his mind through his eyes, like this world needed anymore war. “I would say that idea is ridiculous. Nuclear weaponry would not only wipe out the Host, but also our planet. The water, food and even the air will be contaminated for years after the initial blasts. There is also no saying whether we would remain safe underground, or whether the radiation would reach us below the earths surface. It’s safe to say that we would surely run out of clean air eventually, and food would run scarce even with our fields still producing. Then, even when the radiation has cleared, our world would be destroyed. Uninhabitable almost. So I stand against nuclear weaponry against the Hosts. No good has ever come from bombs.”

Although Cooper could appreciate where Brad was coming from, it would be a lie if he claimed he was talking to him for any other reason than his own private amusement. Nuclear weaponry of the past may not have been the key to the future, but he respected the ideology behind them: create a weapon so powerful it could destroy the world and watch everyone else fall at your feet because of their fear. Nonetheless, he listened carefully to what Brad had to say, considering the truth behind them before he nodded. So, naturally, nuclear weaponry was not the answer. "Well argued. I'll bear that in mind." Offering the man a small smile, he continued, his gaze searching Brad's now. "But you do agree that something must be done." This was no question. But how would Brad react? Was he a sympathiser? Or one who recognised what the Hosts were doing to the human race?

Willow was spending some time alone in the atrium when she heard footsteps approaching her. She placed her book in her lap and piped up “Hey. Stop by to smell the roses?”

Cooper raised his eyebrows at the person who had disturbed the silence, considering her before shrugging, "Actually, I was just passing through. But maybe I will."

Reaching up for his extended hand, taking it within seconds of his offering, Hannah slowly stood and began dusting herself off, wincing slightly as she stood on her leg even if it wasn’t nearly as bad as she had previously thought. “I just feel like…maybe it isn’t even worth mentioning. I’m not the kind of person who complains, especially not to you. I don’t want to seem unthankful for living here.”

"Maybe? That's not very convincing." Cooper offered her a soft smile and shrugged, "I know you're not, so there's no need to worry. What happened?"

"Well, it seems that you’ve got to speak a little louder to some people, for them to hear you…" Tabitha smiled, reaching for the carcass of a mobile phone brought to her for upgrade, and also for a tiny screwdriver which she pointed at him as she spoke. "Don’t you think that would be a little.. suspicious; it’s not like people like me suddenly come across ration points everyday. I’m also well aware you don’t bite, Mr Douglas. You snap. Like a crocodile. And I’m already sticking my hand far enough into your open mouth as it is. I will come to you for my… favour, when such a need arises.”

"I hardly think that's necessary; people stop to take note of what I'm saying if they value their well-being." He offered her a smile, waving off the comment despite the underlying threat as if he had said nothing more than made an observation about the fake weather. After all, subtle threats were commonplace for Cooper. "They don't notice if you don't advertise it, Carson. I trust you'd be smart enough to make yours last." But he didn't push the matter further, knowing the time would eventually come for such a thing and laughed instead. "Well, if you insist."
