This mofo....
"This isnāt just any ordinary lab work, Saffron," He told her, opening the folder again to look at it. "I donāt even know why Iām asking you. You wouldnāt understand any of this," He commented, more to himself than to her. He finished glancing over the pages before he placed them back onto the table. Moving over to the computer that was stationed next to him, Shane typed something in before turning his head to look at her. "You can go now."
Her eyes flashed. "Did you just call me dumb?" An anger washed through her at his words. How dare he insinuate that she wouldn't understand anything. Who did Shane think he was?
"Really? Really? Iām not supposed to talk to you?ā Adeline chuckled as she leaned back in her seat.
"Bad day," she said, simply, not looking over at her.
"Mmhmm," she nodded idly, flipping through the files still, scanning them for anything of importance. "What are these files covering, exactly? Give me the abstract."
"Lab work," she said, crossing her arms over her chest. "What are you looking for exactly?"
"Any reason you sat at my table?" Saffron asked, looking the person up and down before taking a bite of her food.
"Obviously not," Shane said, getting restless, "Youāre an assistant. Your job is to help me, not fucking mouth off," He said, grabbing the folders once she put them down. He took a few steps back in case she tried to grab them from him, and opened the one of top. His eyes scanned the pages furiously. He closed the folder and held it up, "Explain it."
She rolled her eyes and leaned back against the table. "It's lab work for Adelaine, if you must know. Tell me, do you have a giant stick stuck up your ass or...?"
Saskia blinked, relatively unfazed, though somewhat annoyed, and reached out, yanking the folders from Saffronās hands. Turning around, she leafed through them, idly scanning the pages within, āI came for Liz, but I suppose youāll do. Iām interested, however, to know how far that attitudeās gotten you in life.ā
She went to protest but allowed her to take them. Saffron crossed her arms over her chest. "Pretty far. Life is just peachy," her voice was bland and almost bored though the sarcasm was biting at the ankles of the words.
"Well when you come into my space uninvited, Iām going to tell you to leave," Shane told her firmly, sticking his hands into his lab coat.
Saffron raised her eyes and gave him a look of distaste. "I am doing my job. I didn't invite you to speak. Got it?" She placed the folders down and put her curly red locks into a ponytail.
"Um, yeah, I'm sorry. I must have missed the memo that said that you were suppose to talk to me," Saffron said. She organized the folders in her arms, not wasting another glance up at the person.
