What if the 6th human to fall down... never left the RUINS?

Hello!

This is COPPERTALE, a fully original Undertale AU based on the above! THIS BLOG IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS, SO PLEASE BE PATIENT!

When Frisk eventually falls down, he accompanies them through the Underground so he can get them back to the surface, although Copper isn't too keen on going back home himself. It doesn't take long for the two of them to form a strong sibling bond.

This is called Coppertale because the 6th human is called... Well, Copper! He is the soul of justice (despite being so orange) and aspires to do what is right by those around him. He is 15 when the events of the AU take place, but fell down when he was 10. Since then, Toriel has been taking care of him in the RUINS.

I am working on the basic script for the True Pacifist, Genocide, and Neutral route - nothing is set in stone but the ask box is OPEN.

The story of this AU will be shown through various posts, either written, drawn, or answers from asks. Although I would like to make a comic and I am currently working on a script for a hypothetical one, there is no guarantee of a comic actually being made. I am a full-time university student and comics are difficult.

Although there is no guarantee of a comic, asks are again encouraged, as is any interaction. Keep in mind that I may be taking a few creative liberties with the character designs and all designs may not be final at this stage.

Finally, please just be nice! I'm very passionate about this and I'm super excited to share this with whoever stumbles upon it!

On the thought of Frisk being Gen Alpha...

This was an admittedly very lazy comic I started last night and rushed through today. I know the lighting/consistency might not be the best but I just could not get this idea out of my head 😭

Copper started this journey not knowing what 67 means and he's going to end it wishing those numbers never existed

When Frisk first died, they thought that was it.

They didn't think the SAVE points did anything.

And why would they?

But it didn't take long for them to realise just how familiar this world was.

Infinite lives. Unlimited attempts. Endless possibilities.

Just like a video game.

And after that, Frisk wanted to see it all.

That's right!! After redesigns for both of those goobers (and years after making the au) I finally made a halfway decent banner!

There's a lot of negative space on the sides but I don't mind tbh I got bored after drawing MY FAVOURITE GOOBERS :D

For example what if Frisk was constantly referencing memes and pop culture but Copper only had a very vague idea as to what they were talking about.

How on earth does Frisk explain several years of meme history.

I was struck by inspiration.

Is there anything different about Sans and/or Papyrus in this AU?

I don't think there would be major differences? I'm not really sure

I don't think Toriel and Sans are as close as they are in the game. Toriel doesn't have time to tell jokes at the door when Copper pops up. BUT she does tell him about Copper, under sworn secrecy, so I imagine Sans becomes a little bit more human friendly. Something to note is that he never holds Copper to judgement - it's always just Frisk. In the genocide route, Copper's talking to Asgore while Sans is 'talking' to Frisk. This is true for most routes, actually, so I like to imagine Toriel tells Sans about Copper in their minimal joke-tellings, and so he trusts that kid more.

But I think Papyrus would remain mostly the same. This might change later on, of course, but I don't see him changing much?

I want this to be focused mainly on the Human Bros rather than the Skeleton Bros (ha) bUT I am open to suggestions about them!!!!! And any other character!!!! Please feel free to give. Ideas. :)

Got bored today, have some rather shitty doodles of Copper and Frisk being... Well, Copper and Frisk.

(I'm aware these are bad quality but I spent. Like 30 minutes on them in total. And my phone camera is a wee bit. Bad.)

Just thinking about how excited Copper would be when Toriel brings Frisk home.

Because, he's not seen another human in, like, 5 years. Maybe even 6. Hell, he's barely spoken to ANYONE except for Toriel in all that time. The other monsters are alright but he still feels off with them, the dummy's not much for conversation and Flowey's... Flowey.

So when Toriel brings this new kid, this human kid, Copper almost immediately decides 'yep, we're friends'. Because he has no idea Frisk plans on getting out of the RUINS. To him, this is a new kid, a sibling and a friend to spend time with. He immediately wants to teach them everything he knows, what the best food is, the trillion snail facts, why it's called a water sausage.

Of course he'll guide them through the Underground. After all, it's his duty as a big brother, right?

(Wait until you find out I have the worst betrayal planned for the genocide route >:) )

POV: you're Alphys checking ur screen made to watch for humans and two human kids found your secret Snowdin camera !

Kind of obsessed w/ these sloppy late night doodles atm. But yeah! I feel like Copper would be excited to finally leave the Ruins (until he meets his worst enemy Snowdin) and would want to make a memory out of it. Except it takes a while for both of them to realise that is, in fact, a video camera.

Which I think would make it funny for Alphys to be jumpscared by THIS view when seeing that one of her cameras picked up movement lol.

General info:

Copper fell down when he was around 9-10 years old, which I think is mentioned in the pinned post. BUT instead of being found immediately by Flowey and then Toriel, he had to navigate through some of the ruins alone. Although many of the puzzles seen may be easy to us Older Kids(tm), Copper struggled greatly, especially considering the froggits (and other present monsters) did not have the... Highest opinion of him. But he finally meets Toriel in that pillar room where she leaves Frisk, and ofc after seeing a rather beat up child goat mama is going to take him home and look after him. Which is also why that one lever is so clearly marked out, puzzles aren't harmful, etc etc, at least in this AU.

FUN FACTS IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

Copper did originall fall with a toy gun. Toriel confiscated this for safekeeping, though only in the Pacifist route does she give it back, just in case. Which is certainly ironic.

While accompanying Frisk, he'll randomly quip snail facts. You thought Toriel was bad? Imagine being a hyperactive kid learning these snail facts.

Copper is terrible at puzzles. Give him a Rubiks cube and he will break down /lh

He makes up for this by being good at cooking.

He's also painfully honest - it's equal to Papyrus's undying optimism.

Copper's favourite areas are the Ruins, the Judgement Hall, and Hotland.

His least favourite area is Snowdin. He was wildly underdressed.
