Declan smiled and nodded his head. “Well, I’m glad that I could bring you a resemblance of good news instead of something you might have been dreading.” Leaning in a bit, Declan stage-whispered. “I’m really not all that terrifying outside of class, I swear.” He winked, letting out an amused chuckle as he leaned back out of Cora’s space.
Cora was a hard worker, Declan had easily noticed that. She was one of the students that he was actually more than pleased to talk to. Although she was gorgeous and he could clearly see that, he had to push that aside. He was the young girl’s professor after all, that type of feelings or conduct was grounds for getting himself fired.
“Well, I can’t say that I’m too much of the partying type. I know, I’m an old geezer, but I do enjoy Scandal. How to Get Away With Murder has definitely been keeping my attention as well. That is when I’m able to watch it without being busy grading.” Declan mused with a hum and stood up straight, moving around to back behind his desk. “I can start filing out the paperwork tonight and we can get started as soon as you’re ready. Let me just give you my cell number instead of my business one, that way you can use it after starting the job as well.” He told her, grabbing one of his business cards and scribbling down his cell phone number on the back of it.
She couldn’t hide the laugh that bubbled up when Declan leaned in close to her and called himself terrifying, because that was sort of ridiculous specially after the wink he threw at her. Cora didn’t want to offend Professor Abbott, but there was nothing terrifying about him that she could see. He was incredibly smart, in fact his class was Cora’s favorite and she knew a lot of people in it felt the same way, but she knew he was nice and not at all scary. He was even easy on the eyes, there was nothing wrong with having noticed that, right? She couldn’t be the only one at school that noticed that.
“I am so glad you just clarified that, I was just saying yes to the job because of how terrified of you I am.” Her tone was teasing and there was a big smile on her face as she spoke, god she hoped she wasn’t beeing too informal or even insulting Professor Abbott, but she was never really good at formalities and he was the one being playful to begin with and she could see them getting along smoothly.
Cora wondered if Professor Abbott really saw himself that way; horrifying and old. When she let her dad know she was starting a job, those weren’t at all the words she would describe him with. “What? Nothing should be more important than TV Shows, you’re lucky I’m here to lighten the load so you can catch up on those shows while I work...” She grinned, taking the card offered to her and taking out her phone from her bag, opening her text messages and sending a quick text to the number Declan gave her. “Okay, now you have mine as well,” she grinned, placing his phone and the card back inside her bag. “I’m ready as soon as there’s job to do, just let me know when and where and I’ll be there.” She knew she had to get going to her next class, and Declan probably had other things to do himself so she straightened up a little and said, “Thank you for this chance, Professor, I won’t let you down. Is there anything else you need of me? I kinda need to get going” She pointed towards the door an apologetic look on her face.
